Default Drifter Survey (Car Setups & Performance)

I'd like to just gather some information on your setups.

Basic Stats:

1. How long have you been drifting/race
2. How often do you drift? (times per week/month)
3. Car
4. Battery
5. ESC
6. Motor
7. Tires
8. Pinion to Spur Ratio
9. Servo
10. Radio
11. Upgrades
12. How much did you pay?

Subjective Observations:

1. How does it drift?
2. What is your runtime? (Range: race/bash)
3. Is there a specific surface it performs best?
4. Is the car balanced drifting to the left and right equally, or does it drift to one side easier.
5. Describe the performance characteristics of your car, compare and contrast if possible to other setups you've had or seen first hand.

Thanks, I hope the info we generate can benefit us all

Default RE: Drifter Survey (Car Setups & Performance)

Basic Stats:

1. How long have you been drifting/race [1 month!]
2. How often do you drift? (times per week/month) [4 days a week]
3. Car [Tamiya TT01]
4. Battery [Tenergy 3800 Mah 6 Cell]
5. ESC [Tamiya TEU-101 BK 23Turn]
6. Motor [Mabuchi 540]
7. Tires [ABS Drift]
8. Pinion to Spur Ratio [P 19: S 61]
9. Servo [Tower Hobbies]
10. Radio [Tower Hobbies 2txp]
11. Upgrades [wheels]
12. How much did you pay? Around 330 for everything.

Subjective Observations:

1. How does it drift? [It is sluggish and underpowered. It has a hard time drifting both directions with ease.]
2. What is your runtime? (Range: race/bash) [20 minutes aggressive]
3. Is there a specific surface it performs best? [the smoother the better it doesn't like bumps]
4. Is the car balanced drifting to the left and right equally, or does it drift to one side easier. [No it turns right easier than left]
5. Describe the performance characteristics of your car, compare and contrast if possible to other setups you've had or seen first hand. [Compared to the Himoto Nascada the TT01 stock configuration leaves quite a bit to be desired while offering its own perks, such as the great body, solid construction, nice wheels, and LED's.

Default RE: Drifter Survey (Car Setups & Performance)

1. Ive been running 1/10th on-roads (started with nitro's then electric's) for around 4 yers. Ive been drifting nitro for about a year when im bored, and ive started seriously drifting electrics about 6 months ago.
2. I drift probably 3 times a week, and during summer, probably 5 times a week.
3. Tamiya TA05
4. Megatech 4100mAh NiMH Batteries
5. Novak XRS (soon to be Novak Brushless set-up)
6. Trinity Co27 PRO 27T motor (also soon to be Novak Brushless)
7. ABS Tries made by Dorifto Kingu from the www.sflrcdrift.com scroll to bottom of page. their some of the best tires I've ever seen.
8. Not sure, im running the Stock Pinion, and Spur Gear
9. Hitec HS-625MG High-Speed
10. Futaba 3PKS Synth
11. 3Racing:
Carbon fiber bumper stiffener
Carbon fiber front shock tower
Carbon Fiber Rear Shock tower
Carbon fiber front chasss stiffener
Carbon fiber rear chassis stiffener
Blue Alum. Steering block
Blue Alum. 2 deg rear hub carrier
Blue Alum. Front and rear shocks
Blue Alum. Front Spool (For Rear)
Yeah Racing:
Blue Alum. front C-Hub
Blue Alum. Battery strap
Tamiya Sway Bars
Topcad Blue Alum. Motor mount
12. It all came out to around $475 after shipping, and everything (inluding all the radio, and motor gear + all the upgrades)

1. The car drifts great, all the hop-ups I've installed especially the 3Racing alum. front spool I installed in the rear, and the shocks have really helpd the car drif much better. And even though you might think that parts like the alum Hubs, and steering blocks wouldnt make much aof a difference they got rid of alot of the slop that devlopes after a few runs with the stock plastic. Stock isnt bad, but this just thightens every thing back up and makes it a bit more responsive, espiecally ovetr time where the plastic will wear out the Alum. will still be good as new. Also the sway bars, and graphite chassis stiffeners really help the car break traction easier.
2. My runtime is around 13-15 mins (I think ivbe nevr really paid much attention to the runtime).
3. Well like preatty much all 1.10th cars you want a smooth pebble free surface, but it does a great job of drifting wel even on rougher pavement.
4. After putting some tme into getting the car balanced as well as possible side-side it drifts equally the same. Now I'm just fine tuning front-rear balance.
5. Well i realzie that in drifting the car is alot less critical then in 1/10th scale racing. but I've found this car to just drift better then many of the other TT-01's and TB-02's i see. But TT's and TB's ive seen that have as much time put into set-up as mine drift preatty much equally as well.

1. How does it drift? pretty nicely, the switchback is sick probably need to soften up the rear
2. What is your runtime? about 25-30 minutes
3. Is there a specific surface it performs best? carpet
4. Is the car balanced drifting to the left and right equally, or does it drift to one side easier. its pretty balanced. Belt FTW!
5. Describe the performance characteristics of your car, compare and contrast if possible to other setups you've had or seen first hand: It handles much better than the t-spec in both grip and drift, can kick the rear out easier, holds more consistient slides. The 04 is a little unpredictable on some of the switchbacks but overall handles like a beast!

Default RE: Drifter Survey (Car Setups & Performance)

1. How long have you been drifting/race - About a year, roughly. Maybe a bit under.
2. How often do you drift? (times per week/month) - Used to drift every day/couple of days but haven't drifted at all for the past month due to needing a new charger.
3. Car - Team Losi XXX-S
4. Battery - Venom 3600mAh
5. ESC - Novak/Losi XRS
6. Motor - Trinity "Nervous Breakdown" 19T (soon to be a 17T)
7. Tires - PE pipe (soon to be HPI Drift Radials)
8. Pinion to Spur Ratio - Ah **** I can't remember
9. Servo - Whatever comes with the JR XR2i
10. Radio - JR XR2i
11. Upgrades - None
12. How much did you pay? - $369AU RTR

Subjective Observations:

1. How does it drift? - Bloody awesome, very smooth.
2. What is your runtime? (Range: race/bash) - 20 - 30min roughly
3. Is there a specific surface it performs best? I've only ever used it on tarmac so I can't really compare to other surfaces
4. Is the car balanced drifting to the left and right equally, or does it drift to one side easier. - It's very balanced, perfectly even
5. Describe the performance characteristics of your car, compare and contrast if possible to other setups you've had or seen first hand. - The car is great outta the box. It drifts perfectly without any mods bar tyres. It kicks the crap outta my old TB-02 which drifted to the left slightly better than the right. It's also a lot quieter being belt-driven

Default RE: Drifter Survey (Car Setups & Performance)

1. How long have you been drifting/race - about 5 days :P
2. How often do you drift? (times per week/month) - read above
3. Car - Team Losi XXX-S
4. Battery - Venom 3000mAh and a Trinity 3000mAh
5. ESC - Novak/Losi XRS
6. Motor - Trinity "Nervous Breakdown" 19T, Just got a 17t, haven't tested it for drifting
7. Tires - PVC
8. Pinion to Spur Ratio - Pinion is a 24t and spur i think is 40 something i think 42.. not 100%
9. Servo - Whatever comes with the JR XR2i
10. Radio - JR XR2i
11. Upgrades - 17t motor
12. How much did you pay? - $399AU RTR

Subjective Observations:

1. How does it drift? - very smooth and very very responsive
2. What is your runtime? (Range: race/bash) - 20 - 30min roughly
3. Is there a specific surface it performs best? i ise it on my old wooden floor inside and it works great with pvc ultra slide
4. Is the car balanced drifting to the left and right equally, or does it drift to one side easier. - It's very balanced, the xxxs has an awesome chassie
5. Describe the performance characteristics of your car, compare and contrast if possible to other setups you've had or seen first hand. - The Losi XXX-S is a very good set up straight out of the box, you can start drifting with a very small adjustment... just change wheels to PVC I made one adjustment and went and bought a 16t motor.. havnt tested it for drifting yet but we will see.. it should work
