Hi, I have been rc'ing for years, however I have never tried drifting. I was at the park sunday flying my Trex and a group of young guys showed up and started drifting around the this sidewalk that twists all over the place. It looked like a blast. I went home and had to resist the urge to run down to the hobby shop and get an HPI sprint 2 drift (I had seen it earlier) Anyway I got to thinking (oh oh) And all of my surface rc's are 1/8 scale. So I started thinking maybe a brushless inferno gt or ofna and then I found one of these: http://www.ofna.com/late-model-dirt-oval.php Ofna dirt oval brushless brand new. I have a Novak HV 6.5 Pro system sitting here. The only bias on the car is 15mm offset hubs for turning left, I have a standard set of buggy hubs and a radio sitting here. I would need to find drift tires and get a nice 8 scale car body. I think it sounds nice, but I have never drifted and I don't even know that my idea is even conceivable or is there a reason I don't see 8 scale drift cars? And/or would I be better off using a touring car platform instead?
Sorry for the long post, I just figured you guys would be the ones to ask. Thank you kindly in advance. Jay

realistically anything can be used for drifting so long as it has drift tires. not sure if you could get drift tires for a 1/8 car but you may be able to make them (drift tires are usually just ABS or PVC hard plastic). Ideally you would want alot more but thats all you NEED.<div>what you DONT need is a ton of power</div><div>you will probably want:</div><div>-4WD</div><div>-decent balance front/rear and left/right</div><div>-a locked rear diff</div><div>-a gnarly course to drift on (sounds like youve got that

</div><div>be origional! I like the idea of doing something not many other ppl are doing. you may want to try drccentral.com, there are alot more drifters on that forum who can help alot more than I can.</div><div>

pretty much if you can put normal touring car wheels on it you can drift using 2' Diameter ABS piping for tires if it's 4wd. RWD would be extremely difficult to drift with, especially for a beginner.

the ofna would make a good drifter and you can get one now on ebay tower hobby said it could be a while before it comes in there. it the same chassis as the ultra gtp that i converted to brushless. but the guys are right you will need to make wheels out of pvc pipe as for the bodies you can a kyosho body they make a bunch of them but there not cheap i used the proform body it was cheap at 28.00

Thanks for all your help guys. RC18 Thank you kindly for the pics. I am going to go for it. The chassis looks the same, the shock towers are a little different. I will keep you guys posted. Looks like I am going to be turning out some tires on my lathe. Should be interesting! Thanks again, Jay
