1st RCUniverse Electric Speed Challenge

RE: 1st RCUniverse Electric Speed Challenge
-Just wondering do we have to run bodies?
-Can we make our own body
-Can we use ANY body
I got the rustler going today, but striped a gear []
Tall gearing + grippy tyres = crazyly fast wheelies & striped gears. might go more easy on it next time
90a ESC 3300kv motor with a 7.4 5500mah 30c battery. lots of amps there
well this might put me out for 2 weeks with my rustler but ill try with the slash in the mean time......

RE: 1st RCUniverse Electric Speed Challenge
Yeah first run was around 30 on its roof, it was conning right at me and I stopped it with my foot, left a nice cut.
And as foxy said there are no body rules, I've done multiple runs trying to see if running with a body or wing made a difference, Haveing a wing will slow you down but will help you keep it planted, Bodies are just adding weight unless your shock towers are solid carbon fiber or plastic which in that case they create more drag and will slow you down more than the weight of the body.

Got my Rustler re-geared today, 23/86 on a Dynamite Fuze Brushless esc w/ 6800kv motor, alloy tranny case, integy esc fan, proline 2.2 dirt hawgs, nitro front casters and wheels, alloy front shock tower and spc 2s 5000mah 25c battery. I ran it with 12/90 gearing today just to see how it would do and I was not impressed. The new gearing really wakes it up. Now I just have to find a place that I can open it up and see what I get.

Ok...this will be my last vid (unless someone posts a faster speed) I was having some trouble getting the body clips on the car because it was dark.So I don't actually get the wheels on the ground untill the 2:00 mark. this would normally get edited out but to keep the run legit I had to keep the 2 minutes in there!LOL!

Thanks. I am waiting to see your 58 MPH Xray! I won't be posting anything else untill somebody beats my run. I still have few things to tweak (mostly suspension) on the car but it is obviously running good.

I still can't decide which car I want to use. [&:] I have the Jammin SC, the mini Xray and I'm thinking of buying the mini losi just for this purpose.

RE: 1st RCUniverse Electric Speed Challenge
The thing is I run both on 3s normally (and I would the little Losi too), so it's a case of being bothered to not only get the speed measurement gear and a cameraman together, but also piss around with the gearing on whichever car I'm gonna use, I'm a perfectionist, if I do this I'll do it right, which means I'm going to need a LOT of pinions, and maybe a couple of different spurs too. I have the batteries, although I would consider getting a high C, low capacity for the weight savings...see it's a lot to think about considering I don't have a car that I dedicate to speed, I like balance normally. But I do fancy giving this speed run a thing a try, and getting a new car and dedicating it to going silly fast is probably a good way to go, and despite not (apparently) taking bigger motors, I think I might be able to find a way to propel that little buggy pretty fast.
