Alright, So I got my box-o-goodness tonite, 4 motors, 2 New, Never run, the other 2 are in Mint condition, coms have seen maybe 1 full pack.

I installed a 19t Epic "Outlaw" in the F-150... Easily saw 2.5 times the speed... It's crazy to control such a narrow wheelbase vehicle with such a quick little motor.

I retarded the timing just a touch to 15 degrees, down from 25 that it was set at. That slowed the motor down a touch. I may drop it all the way down to 0 just to get some extra life out of the brushes.

If you mean just roll when I take my finger off the throttle, not much... It has some major "drag" brake going on... Which I realize isn't called drag brake on a brushed motor. But I'm a newb at brushed.

You have to be good with the throttle.

No, I mean, when you steer at full speed, does it flip over?

Ohhh, sorry LB, yes, it will definately flip... I cartwheeled it into the grass the first 2minutes I after I installed the new motor.

The narrow wheel base isn't too conducive to turning at super high-speed. I think with less pre-load it might corner a bit better, but I don't want it bottoming out on the curbs around the nieghborhood.

So what did you end up doing to make the big battery fit?!

Ahah, this is one of my Old-School 3000mah nimh packs. It's the same size as a standard Nicd pack, so I use it as my tamiya powerplant.

It's dying a slow death though, just doesn't charge very good anymore.... Dissapointing... Means I'll have to buy more batteries.

So you are not going to try to use the new batteries with it?!

I haven't messed with mine yet, so.. but will eventually do something, I am sure!

You know, it's not a big difference between the two packs... if I shaved the battery restraint about half a centimeter (5mm) it would strap right in. I'm just hesitant to shave it because I'm not sure if it would come out good.

I may just find another way to restrain the battery, run without the little plastic door there.

Definately. I'm gonna look into using my favorite little velcro straps... They're cheap and all I have to do is add to little slots where I can snake it through the bottom of the chassis... I'll see if I feel brave enough to deface the chassis!

Hey Hunter

Car looks darn fine. Truck looks pretty decent too, nice one. Just a quick tip if I may, get yourself the solid drive shaft and get an aluminium motor mount, after the bearings that is.

The first time you hit something hard from the front, the standard drive shaft buckles. Also the first time you take a serious jump with it, the motor mount will snap on one of the legs. I've had 3 fail on me in the past 2 months. May have been because they were old and fatigue set in, but this is a known weakness on these chassis.

Thanks for the compliment, I pick up my new 1:1 car this afternoon!

As for the F150, I can believe that the driveshaft will buckle. It is essentially just a piece of wire (about the thickness of a good coat hanger) with little loops bent in the end.
Do you know where I can get an Aftermarked solid shaft, or do I have to fashion by own? Same for the motor mount, any recommendations?

Just curious! Good advice.

Let me know if you find out! I'd guess the same mods can be apply to the Hummer as well...

Got any pic of the finished truck body on top of the XXX-4 yet?!

Thanks for the picture hunter. I will be gettin 1 of these, because from the picture, I can see that the shaft is thicker than the hummers shaft, the hummer has a thin 1. Oh I will post my pictures of my models, soon. Im gettin a new notebook, and digital camera in like a week or so.

LOL Hunter I just read your post lol, about the shaft being thin as a coat hanger, just like the hummer, lol. I guess I could not see that well on that picture thats how slow and messed up this comp. im on is. Well I will be looking into an aftermarket shaft before I buy it. My hummer has that thin shaft, I don't like it, i like the hummer but not the shaft.

I can post you a pic of the F150 body on my XXX-T, Or I can post you a picture of my Stock XXX-T body on my F150 Chassis...

As for my XXX-4 buggy, I sold it. I ran it a few times but just didn't have a good area to take advantage of the racing design.

I'm happy with my trucks for bashing as I can see racing and tracks are a rarity around here.

I'll snap a pic of that tonite, LB. I tried just a quick fit of the XXX-T body on the F150 chassis, but the XXX-T body is too narrow... It bulges out on both sides (hitting the battery holder).

Should be interesting to see what it looks like.

I have taken a few shots of my sons Blazing Star which has bearings, upgraded drive shaft as below and a new motor mount which I manufactured out of PVC.

In the picture of the motor mounts, you can see from left to right, the pvc one I made, then the new red one I recently purhcased and then the last one to break in black. I tried out the pvc one yesterday and thrashed the car to within an inch of it's life, jumping big jumps and landing hard, trying to break it, which did not happen. I am very happy with this new mount, the original one would have broken on the first jump.

Why PVC? I assume if you have machining capability, you could have done it in aluminum? (for more rigidity and heat transfer)

Just curious.. looks good, though!!
