The Hornet is just a matter of making another hole out of epoxy for the screw. My Frog...I cut out the back window to allow (as well as the front) to allow cooling for my ESC......and as a result there was reduced suportabove the motor cut out....aint much to epoxy....may have to get a new body....and one of the axleupright screws (the bottom) came out.....

I would start out by getting an ESC to replace 1 servo and the old MSC. (Not to mention better efficiency and control)

Hopefully the old radio still works.. !!

Maybe you want to check w/ your local shop.. majority of the people on this board are probably based in US, so it might not make sense to buy from US if you want stuff for cheap..

Good luck.. !

I'm sure you can mail order it from within Australia?!

You can probably order from Hong Kong without paying too much in shipping...

Well I guess I should hello on this thread as it appears that I will now have a Frog of my own.

I took my 11 year old niece out a couple of weeks ago and let her run my DF02 in a parking lot. She had a lot of fun. So I asked her dad if I could have his old RC that I knew he had sitting in the closet for some time now collecting dust so that I could rebuild it for her to run when I take her to the local track.
He said "yeah, sure", so I asked "by the way, what is it". His reply was Tamiya Frog. I was expecting something a bit more like AssociatedRC10 or an old Kyosho like the one that I have. I did not expect one of the fore fathers of off road RC's. Now I am reconsidering letting an 11 year old with no experience play with it. Maybe we should start with an old Radio Shack car. lol

Anyway, I look forward to rebuilding apieceof RC history.

Nah, you want the Frog.. Radio Shack cars will not be hobby grade and if she breaks something, you are in trouble.. so Frog is a great choice... !!

Time to start looking for some equipment from eBay then, since you are looking for a deal.. something basic will do.. basic 2-channel radio + a basic ESC..

Ok...got a Tacon 3650.....3200kv in my Frog today and did my first round of tests. All I can say is.....If you are looing to upgrade to brushess in your Frog without tearing up the tranny (may just apply to the re-release however) this motor works very well. Lots of torque and about as fast as my Orion brushed. The review says it all.....the video review will start automatically, and you have to click on video review to see it.....otherwise you gone just hear it.

Will be doing more runs this weekend.

Well I did more test runs ....up against a Traxxas nitro powered Jato. Car did well, although the Jato has more top end power. We dragged raced bracket style in the street, and I managed to win one. I even tried out the Jato'swheels and tires on mine, with thehex adaptors....well I had issues. The pics tell it all....I broke the left driveaxle at the pin hole running those monster wheels and tiresand the extended aluminum hexadapters. I guess it was to much stressfor the stock setup.Yea...I know....my car looks like it was attacked by Jaws, especially since I had to cut off the back end of the body from ahorrific crash racing my brother's Hornet. Modelers don't let your Frogs grow up to be Traxxas......

Looks cool with the Jato wheels. How did it run with them on (before it snapped an axel, yeah)?

It ran GREAT! It even tried to flip during a turnin a street run, but because the wheels and tires are so WIDE it landed on all fours.

Thank god the rear axles are cheap. Otherwise the car has stood up to alot of abuse.
I bet it drives even better with the grasshopper tires on the back. I heard those tires even
though they are shaped weird work on alot of surfaces. I hate wearing down knobbies then
they are useless in grass.[:@]

I just completed the majority of the build. I opted for the Tamiya Universals and a Sport Tuned motor, otherwise a stock Brat.
