RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck
Hey guys, just got my Slash in and I was wondering if anyone else has had to trim the body further to keep it from hitting the front tires when making a turn ? Or am I the only with such a problem ?

Evidently, installing travel limiter gromits on the shocks was a bit too difficult for Traxxas...

Oh, and I think they need to tighten up those shock caps a bit (I KNOW I KNOW, IT IS UP TO ME TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS IGHT), just took a 5 foot jump and the rear caps popped right off !!...lol
Scared the heck out of me, though I broke an A-Arm...lol

The stock caps are also junk. I ended up going to some STRC alloy caps which improved the situation greatly... but then got rid of the stock shocks altogether as they were pants. Trust me, you could tie a knot in those shock shafts with your bare hands if you tried hard enough.
The Slash is nice, but lets not forget what it is, a hacked up rusty/pede hybrid with a new chassis. Apart from the T-maxx, Jato and Revo, Traxxas have essentially done nothing but tweak old designs for the past 15 years. I'd of thought by now they would have perfected the Stampede/Rustler parts enough to actually make a truck that works out of the box.
Yeah I was a little disappointed from an active thinking company not to do a bit more testing, but what the heck, can't expect them to think of it all !!

I've put the Traxxas Alloy caps and Titanium Nitride shafts on the stock ultra-shocks and I think they're great. I take 20 foot drops all the time and the most damage I get is the body sometimes goes over the top of the front bumper but that's about a 2 second fix to pop it back the right way.

It has limiters, but they're only about 1/4" tall.
I've noticed that. What did you do to fix it?

Hey anyone who might be interested in a Chassis kit for the slash, all brand new parts. Check out Ebay item number 260368672466. Not a bad price for all brand new stuff IMO.

Lol! I've seen the pics. I need tougher shocks for mine, I've already managed to bend two shafts, and it isn't even "fast" yet. I've got plans that should put it around 40-45 mph OFF-road. So it will certainly be seeing more abuse than what it sees now, and I need to toughen it up some to handle it.

Indeed, the shells are very strong. And thick. I think I've slid further on my roof than I've driven with this shell and all I've got is light grazing.
Thank you very much, however it is no longer much use for offroad.

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck
Cool pictures, I just updated my topic with all new pictures and videos check it out!
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7782406/tm.htm
I love my Slash and even though I am currently running a stock body, I'm upgrading to a Desert Rat as soon as I get money. It is by far my favorite RC that I own(electric wise since my Nitro Pede is a different feel). But Dirt Paws definitely improve the traction on grass and dirt. Only let down is I cannot run street until I get some new tires. Can't wait to pick up my Sand Paws from the LHS and take this puppy to the beach! I run a Sidewinder 5700 on a 7Cell 4500mAh Orion pack and its a beastly truck and handles every thing I dish at it(well almost) and I beat the snot out of my Slash. The only part that I ever broke while getting 10-15 feet of air and landing on the lid is the body mount, but I broke a shock tower and rear brace(rear tower) a few days ago but that's a whole different story...
