I'm just curious, can u use a 3 month old Lipo with a new lipo in series (exactly the same model, c rating and mah)?
the 3 month old lipo still charges to 4.20v each cell and has only been used lightly with a 60amp esc in a touring car.

thank you

xerxes has mix & matchd a brand new lipo wit a 6month old 1 in series. no ill affects hav yet 2 arise.

1 of da resons peopl say dey haf 2 b da same age is discharge rates. a oldr lipo "may" hav a slightly highr iR. wich cood weild lower vUL & reduced runtimes. ther by discharging sooner den da othr pak its series wit. posibly dipping da oldr pak under da lvc & ovr discharging da highr iR pak bcuz da newr pak is keepn max voltage abuv da lvc settin of a 4s.

lets say a old & new pak, series, r bolth at 8.4v each. lvc is 3.2v, 6.4 total. times 2 = a 4s lvc of 12.8.
da highr iR pak discharges faster.@ 30min da high iR pak is @ 6.4, & da new 1 is at 7.0. 13.4v. just abou 2 trip lvc.

1 pak gets dangerously close 2 ovr discharging, whil the bettr pak keeps voltage up enuff 2 fend off da lvc. dats asuming bolth cells in da high iR pak r perfictly balanced @ 6.4v. one cell cood b 3.5v & da othr 2.9v

any esc xerxes runs dual 2s paks, he sets lvc @ 3.4. its a high enuff setting 2 prevent any new pak frum ruining a old pak frum ovr dischargng. & if a pak evr duz get ovr discharged, den it was at da end of its useable life anyway.

bottom line. xerxes runs new & old paks in series & has yet 2 ruin anythng. a high lvc keeps accidents frum happenin.

dat reminds me of an incident. da only 1.

xerxes has 3 steel boxs he throws lipos in. 1 box is da full chargd box, 1 box is da 60% storage chargd box, & da othr 1 is da suspect box, wer potentially dangerous / bad lipos go.

1 day he went 2 go drivn. he grabbd 2 lipos out of da fully chargd box, seriesd em up & hedid out.

well sumhow da nite b4, a storage chargd lipo found its way in 2 da fully chargd box. low & behold. it was 1 of da 1s xerxes grabd.

a few min of runnin

da car was getn slugish. had no idea *** was rong. well it was drivn real slow, still no lvc kikd in.
finaly lvc kikd in &"bolth batts went on2 da charger.
1 batt was at 7.6v, & da othr 1 was at 4.9v

If anyone is looking for a upgraded and decked out XXB I have one in the for sale section.

Car and trucks, garage deals.

Also I have great feedback +22 on RC tech over 50 on Extremeoverclocking and over 90 on Ebay.

Buy with confidence. I just do not use this forum much.
