I have a perfect condition eclipse 7, windows me and i built the cable from the designs of www.heliguy.com or something. I also tried shorting the ground to centre pin as well. Ive read every fms forum and im clueless and extremely annoyed.

I think your problem is with the type of interface that you are trying to build. This interface is the parallel port interface, and as far as I know, it will only work correct under Win95 or Win98.
For WinME, you will need the Serial PIC Interface, Joystick Interface, or one of the new USB interfaces.
Have a look on my web for the different type of interfaces. The page include Serial PIC and Joystick interfaces, but you will have to be able to program a micro controller chip before the circuit will work.
Alternatively, there are several links to ready made interfaces as well.
Hope this info will help with your problem.

If you're using a parallel port interface, have you tried changing the mode?
As well as the standard mode for use with a simple printer, parallel ports work in Enhanced Parallel Port EPP and Extended Capability Port ECP and it might be yours isn't set to work with the fms program.
You can change this by getting into the BIOS at start up (it varies from machine to machine, but try the delete key, F9, or maybe F12 before the windows log on screen appears) and toggling through the parallel port setups and changing it to ECP.
Just a thought!

Hello,
I have tried the FMS simulator with the printer cable interface with Win 95,98 & ME and it works great with all of those versions of windows.
