It is highly unlikely that your laptop will work with G2. It has a 2.5mb integrated video chipset that is not compatinle with DirectX8. It is recommended that you have at least 16mb of dedicated video memory. I would say 64min for good results. Also the LCD display on laptops does not refresh fast enough for flying this simulator well even on newr more up to date systems. CRTs work much better.

I am afraid your problem is not a laptop (mine runs just fine on Dell Inspiron 7200), but the operating system. Windows 2000/NT was developed as a "business" line (contrary to Windows 98 or ME [:'(] ), thus most of the "goodies" to support smooth gaming was disabled/removed from there. Microsoft did reversed course in XP - both home edition and Pro are good supporting with multimedia/graphics.

Also, check Toshiba's site for latest updates - specifically BIOS and Video Drivers. Also I agree with Gunner - if you can add more resources (memory, video memory) to your laptop it can't hurt.

I am currently running G2 on my Toshiba Satellite 1905-s301 , windows XP Home Ed. with no problems. although I did upgrade my memory to 512megs to do some video editing, so maybe that has helped out....

I have Realflight G2 running on a Dell Inspiron 2 Ghz laptop with Windows 2000 Pro. No problems, but you do need to download the latest updates from the Realflight website.

If there is no gameport on your laptop and you are using the non-USB Realflight, you need to get a gameport to USB adaptor. They are $15 at Radio Shack, or anywhere from $15 - $25 at other electronic parts stores and on-line. I bought two adaptors from the local Radio Shack in north Baltimore two weeks ago, so they are available. Two other Radio Shacks in the area were out of stock, so you may need to search.

I have used the RealFlight controller box with FMS, both directly through a gameport and through the gameport->USB adaptor. So that combo works too.

I have also used RC radios (Futaba and JR) with trainer port adaptors both with FMS and RealFlight. The trainer port adapter reads the PWM signal coming from the trainer port, and converts it to the expected gameport inputs (0-100k Ohm) with four digital potentiometers. These kinds of adaptors are available all over the net:

The first one is a kit - I have built two and they work great:

The second is pre-built and I have one of these also; it works great:

I have not used this kind but it appears to be similar to #2 above:
