From: Modesto, CA,
I bought the Version 2.00.214 of Real Flight from a vendor on ebay. He told me the interface I have used for the FMS would work fine. I have contacted him to no avail and have tried nearly everything to get this going. I am unable to do anything with this program to get it going. Can someone with MUCH more knowlege help me out here. I have a 1.5 gHz Pentium and running Win. 98. I have used the Airtronics with FMS and wanted to move up. I hope my $75.00 wasn't spent in vain. Sure would appreciate any guidance. Thank you very much in advance

There exist a number of different interfaces, which can work with FMS. Most of them (simple "Windows 9x-only" serial and parallel, serial FMS-PIC, USB FMS-PIC) are proprietary to FMS and, by no means, can work with RealFlight.
The only other interface type I know, which can work with both FMS and RealFlight (as well as with many other sims), is joystick interface, either game port or USB. Such an interface converts PPM signal of your transmitter into the virtual joystick, which can be used by any Windows appication supporting joystick input.
If you have this type of FMS interface and your only problem is to properly configure RealFlight, you may want to look at the help pages here:

Hope this helps,
Boris

I don't have such an interface as mine connects into the printer port and NOT the joy stick or USB. Any suggestions on the most inexpensive route to approach for purchase or a build. Thank you BLuesky and thanks to anyone in advance for this answer.

You should be able to download a revision to your Real Flight Delux to make it version xx.xx.216. Also your version should have a controller selection option of using a USB controller.
With this option, you can use the current G-2 USB controller that costs around $80.
The original controller with this version looked like a Futaba transmitter and it plugged into the game port.
I use a version of Real Flight simular to yours and I have the gameport type controller that I use through a USB - GAMEPORT adapter from Radio Shack.
I doubt that you will have much success with any controller for the other brand simulator as it had a Seriel interface that was sometimes made to work on the parallel port.
I have been unable to make channels 3 & 4 work on my Real Flight controller when using FMS.
Enjoy,
Jim

Strat, if you want to build a joystick interface yourself, you can have a look on my [link=http://myweb.absa.co.za/eric.brouwer/interface.htm]web[/link]. There are several types available for the home constructor.
Also, I have placed a couple of links to ready-made interface vendors on the same webpage.
