I dowdnloaded FMS several times now. The problem is when it is downloaded, I cannot find any way to run it. Only once did I get it to work. Since I have added RAM to a total of 256. I thought I would download it again, and it seems to download ok but I cannot find any way to run it. I am about ready to take a sledge hammer to this computor. What in the word do I have to do????? Thanks John computor wiz-no

What do you mean by "cannot find anyway to run it"? Do you
mean there is no icon to click? Or it just won't load up? I have the
CD version from FMS and there are two versions of FMS. One is
called FLY RC, which is for DOS only computers and the runFMS
setup which runs on all non-DOS computers. I don't know what
you get with the downloadable version, but if your computer is
not running DOS, which if it was made in the last 15 years it
shouldn't be, then make sure that you are installing the FMS
version and not the FLY RC. Also, a buddy of mine has had a hell
of a time getting FMS to run, and it turns out that his monitor
can't handle the frame rates. He had his computer custom made
but chose to use his old monitor. Now he has to get a newer
SVGA or better monitor to run all high graphics programs. Also,
make sure that you have a video card that is fast enough. A 16
bit card should be more than enough, and a 32 bit would be
better. Usually, the problems that I have heard of FMS not run-
ning, involve computer hardware that doesn't meet the minimum
requirements. Hope this helps...

I bought my FMS from Ebay. It included the patch cord that lets
you connect your R/C transmitter directly to your computer. I
paid around $27 for the whole package. There are several FMS
packages for sale now on Ebay. Either type in FMS in the search
box of Ebay's home page and it will take you to all of the auctions
currently going on, or type this item # in search to see a great
deal on the CD package I got: 1755096857. This particular
auction can be bought now for around $20 and includes every-
thing you need. Ebay is a great source for R/C stuff. I've bought
engines and radios through them without a problem. Let me know
how it goes, or if you need additional help.

What operating system are you running ? It's impossible to give detailed instructions without knowing what they are for.
When you download FMS a file called fmsdisk01.exe is put onto your disk in whatever directory/folder you told it. There's no icon YET. You have to find that file and run it (double click usually). It then installs and puts an icon on the desktop.

Steve: If you mean computor- it is a HP 8240 pentiun 2 233hz with 3d now tecknoligy Windows 95. It has 256 RAM now. It did only have 32 RAM The hard drive is 4.3 Gig. The new ram seems to really help everthing else. I still cannnot find icon to run FMS. Is it better to get FMS on a disc?? And why. I got the Fms(by luck) and had the icon, but someone told me it is best to redownload the FMS after putting in the new RAM. The version I used was beta 6 I think-it had english. That brings up another question. Do you need an english version just to fly planes?? Thanks John

O.K. if you're not going to bother reading what I write there's no point even trying to help. Or perhaps this is just a troll.
Which part of the phrase "There's no icon yet. You have to find...." is causing you to think that there should be an icon ?
What operating system = what version of Windows do you have.

From: Tucson, AZ,
Get a PoWeR PC...we talked awhile back about this.
Get RFG2 and get on with life. It will be worth every penny saved.
I think a bit more time getting to know your PC would do
wonders too
Peace,
Chris

I hope everyone can understand that things can happen to you- to me- to any body that makes it hard to do what used to be a snap. Please before you form a opion in your minds, be sure to remember the person who you are (helping) may have a good reason he cannot be a wiz like you. The bottom line is treat other people like you would have them treat you. God Bless John

I'm sorry Captain for the reply's that you have gotten so far on this thread. I will try to help
1. go to the FMS website
2. click on downloads
3. click on: Flying-Model-Simulator FMS 2.0 Beta 7 (6'050KB)
4. when it asks you where to put it, download it to c:\
5. after it's finished, double click on my computer then c:
6. search for a file named fmsdisk1.exe
7. double click on it and follow the directions.
If this doesn't work, or you do not understand something that I've typed. please reply
Good luck!
Another thing you might try is to click on the start button, then look for a menu title named :search/find files (not exactly sure what they call it in Win95) then type in fmsdisk1.exe in the search for files window. It should show up in the right hand side window, then just double click on it.

Best of the Best to you, a very nice person that probably has helped others for many years. John
