Default Get the Reflex and AFP conversion tool for AFPD here

First off, sorry for the new thread. This is the final resting place for the tool that I created. Any correspondence should go in here.

I'm pleased to announce that the 2nd version of the AFPD Scenery Installer tool is finished (link below). The tool will take any scenery collection whether it be for Reflex XTR, AFP and even AFPD and install it automatically for use in AFPD.

The ReadMe.txt file explains everything but once you run it, it should be pretty self explanatory.

One thing to note, if you receive an error, it could be that you don't have .NET Framework version 1.1. Just go to [link=http://www.windowsupdate.com]http://www.windowsupdate.com[/link] and install it.

A few other things to note:
1. There are some sceneries that probably won't work. If you find one that the tool chokes on, email me and let me know which one is having problems.
2. The tool will work with the photorealistic scenes in AFP as well as the 3d scenes!
3. The Reflex XTR scenes convert quite nicely. If a Reflex XTR scene converted fine but the quality is bad, its more than likely the camera the author used. Nothing I can do about that.
4. If you convert an AFP or Reflex XTR scene, there is NO collision information. I would have to reverse engineer AFPD collision info and Reflex XTR info in order to figure out how they both do it, but I have neither the time nor the patience to figure that out (unless IPACS emails me their spec's ).

Hope ya'll enjoy. I know I've been having a blast playing in some of the XTR scenes (which now only takes about 5 minutes from download to flight time).

If you go to windowsupdate.com, do you see .NET Framework 1.1 as one of the installation options?

Redrum: Go to [link=http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=262D25E3-F589-4842-8157-034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en]http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=262D25E3-F589-4842-8157-034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en[/link] and see if reinstalling 1.1 helps. You should see a download link on the right hand side of the page.

Dafid: Yes, this is the updated version of the AFP->AFPD converter as well (all in one nice little package).

Can you give me an example? You should just download the file and unzip it into a folder on your desktop (or other temporary location). Right now the code will just use the directory name where the source files are. If there are no folders within the zip file itself, just create a new folder and unzip them into there.

In the future, I'm thinking about switching over to a wizard interface and asking the user what they would like to call the scenery before it gets installed.

I don't have Aerofly Pro so it would be too hard for me to figure out how to do it (obviously). If I did have it however, it would still be a pretty big chore. I could probably figure out Reflex to AFP (since Reflex scenes give you a nice easy jpg image to work with) but converting a AFPD scene to AFP would be pretty difficult since I don't know the file format they use.

HI CODEY
Problem now is when converted and i open the senery up in the sim
and its only on a couple of scens, i get top half of screen sky blue bottom half black with the plane in and a white shadow of the plane been in the geo played around with it and the screen goes black or it comes back to the above.

These i finally got working (MBC Markt Schwaben im Oktober), Also this one is now working (Heli IG-Amt im Schnee). in AFPD

DONT ASK HOW CAUSE I CANT REMEMBER HE HE HE

This happens on (Plankstad_mittags) even the new AFPD down load wont work. from AFP & AFPD scen from rc-sim . see screen shot below.

and also (Mammendorf) from reflex scens from rc-sim. converter wont read at all m8.

Ive toyed around with 2 scens above and still the same codey hope you have better luck latter.

Appart from these most of the others run ok.

dafid: Ok, I'll take a look at those. I'm thinking it might be something to do with spaces in the filenames. I won't be able to look at it until Monday. WHat happens if you rename the source folder so there are no spaces and the panoramic image (although it's probably something like S1.jpg so it's fine).

Hi, I'm trying to figure out why we should have .NET services installed and running on our PCs to run a program?

Aren't .NET services are for PC communications ??? Not for running applications ... ???

What is the reason for .NET services?

It's built using the .NET framework. I think you're confusing .NET with Web Services (thereby creating .NET services). .NET does have web service support (as well as things like socket and remoting). I however do not use any of that (since there's no need to).

If you want more info, feel free to buy lots and lots of copies of my latest book: [link=http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0672325802/qid=1109616599/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/002-4145528-8132801?v=glance&s=books&n=507846]http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0672325802/qid=1109616599/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/002-4145528-8132801?v=glance&s=books&n=507846[/link]

Can someone recommend an indoor Reflex pano that will work with this converter. I tried SPorthalle but it crashes the computer. Offerdingen works great though. Thanks

PS I want to fly my Shocky's in a gym larger than a closet and really liked the sporthalle... too bad it didn't work. it just crashes to desktop

patrnflyr,

I can't guarantee this will work but I had problems with the sporthall too. I copied the contents of the unziped folder to another folder I named just sporthall I deleted the screen shot also It's not used anyway but I believe that cpano uses jpeg images and may confused screen shot with the actual pic you want to use as scenery. You also can just rename the unziped folder I kept Orig for XTR. Hope this helps you. The Orig file name must have invalid charactors for AFPD. Like ()- ect.

Are we talking about the new SportHall, latest one? Because it turns black and locks mine up.

Anyone else?

By the way Codepunk this thing is awesome. Do you mind if I post it on AFP website?

By all means, please post it. I wrote it for myself since I knew it would be a tremendous timesaver and just knew that others would like it too. I plan on making updates in the future to really streamline it while still making it easy to use. If IPACS would only release some file formats they use, I could really have a hayday with cool tools.
