Default Controller won't work with serial cable

Just received a Dragonfly helo with a serial cable and was trying it last night with no luck. I have FMS and pre flight . My control has two extra swithes on the top of either side(I've heard their not connected inside) and a soft button switch on the top right, similiar to the trainer switch on some futaba transmitters. I've configured the serial port as per the FMS manual and make sure the transmitter is on before I start FMS, still no joy. [:@] I read a thread in another forum that talks of a red switch that allows the computer to see the transmitter. The only thing red I see is the dip swithes on the back of mine. I currently run Windows XP w/ service pack 2. I also heard that you need to run FMS in windows 98/me format and it should work. Haven't tried that yet. Any help is appreciated. Also my joystick (USB) works great with the FMS.

Yo, I finally got mine working last night. You have to read a bunch of fourms... But I am using a serial to usb cord on my dragonfly 22d controler. It really should not make a difference.. Did you down load PPjoy? If you did not then do that get into that program go to ppjoycom and put it on Zhen Hua 5 byteprotoco then turn on your controler and now it should say reading serial stream, open up fms and go to control, select vitrual joystick. Go to maping and configure your joystick and play. If that dont work come back to this site and type in the search fms and read more fourms there are alot on here to help thats how I go mine to work.. Hope this helps you...GUNNY

Thanks for the info. I'll go to the web sight. I was installing PPjoy and PIC joy last night and I got the virtual joystick installed but after that I was lost. I did it by the the one web sight I was on. Had pictures and everything but it wasn't "Marine" proof. My meters on PIC joy were pegged and just flickered when I moved them and I couldn't get it to calibrate in XP game controllers. I'll check out the sight today.

Success at last! Thanks Dunerider. the FMS EP Concept looks just like my Dragonfly. Just as touchy too. Seen the MV-22 for FMS? Flies pretty nice. It has helo mode and airplane version. I also have the AH-6 with and without floats as well as the UH-1D. Need to find the AH-1W, CH-46 and CH-53.

I have FMS but do not have a virtual controller to choose from in the control menu. Is this because I downloaded the demo and haven't purchased the full version?
