Hi
Apparently there is a known issue with at least the first two Add-ons for G3. If these Add-ons are installed using the default settings, the new planes and flying fields etc will not show up in G3. I had this problem when I first got G3 and the first two Add-ons. At the time I called Real Flight and they had me make a change in the directory where the Add-on is installed. Now, some time later I am recovering from a PC crash and Windows XP re-install and I can not remember what they had me change during the installation of the Add-on. Problem is, the Real Flight technical support people can not remember it either.
So, software that was once working can no longer work. The original installation of the Add-ons was problematic but at the time the technical support team knew right away what the solution was and stated that it was a known issue. So, since they can not remember the solution I am hoping someone else can. If you know the solution please let me know.
thanks,
Monte

Hi
Thanks for the reply. The problem I am seeing has to do with the Add-on default directory path being incorrect. During the installation the path must be changed to install the Add-on into the RealflightG3 directory. This is apparently the, "simple fix" I had remembered from before. The problem now is that it keeps asking for the Add-on CD over and over again. From the RF tech support I understand this is a disc verification error. I have sent them some information about my pc and am waiting for their reply. It does not recognize the D: drive as opposed to not recognizing the disc. It never even spins the disk to check, it just keeps telling me over and over to put the disk in the drive even though it is already there.
thanks,
Monte

I too have this problem. I just bought G3 and installed it an now my add-ons won't work. Keeps telling me to insert the disc after it just finished installing the program from the disc. I even tried moving the planes from the folder in G2 to the G3 folder but the planes are not showing up in G3. The Great Planes techs are about worthless. You would think they would want this fixed but all they want is the name of your great grandmothers maiden name to prove you paid for the program (which I did). I have almost $600.00 invested and they won't help me until they do a DNA test.

Did you guys try the links in Jaafit's message?
The only problem I had with Add-on 1&2 was the serial numbers. With G2 you just used the G2 serial number. But with G3 you need a new number. The links above point to the numbers you need to install.

mthemaniac,
What drive letter does the C:\Program Files\RealFlight\fileread.ini point to? If it is pointing to the wrong file I recall the helpdesk at GreatPlanes suggesting I modify it. This was a while back, so make sure you keep a copy of the original file, just in case. My problem started somewhat different when I modified my PC machine, but still I would make sure that drive letter is pointing to your real DVD/DC drive.
