Scratch the previous list of planes! I am going to start out instead by modeling all my favorite planes from AFPD 1st (not as much detail and don't have to worry about precise positioning of the parts)

The EXTRA330S is ready for takeoff!!

Rick,

The extra looks excellent. How difficult is the new editor to modify the planes and have them fly with life like physics?

Thanks Matt
Actually their is no new editor. Its the same editor as always, you just model you new plane and then export it as a "KEX" file. All the parts of the model have to be named properly, moving parts have the correct axis and proper linking hierarchy (so the ailerons know to break off with wing etc). Next fire up G3 and you simply import the new plane just like you import a new Photofield. G3 automatically gives the new model basic flight characteristics, a collision model and it flies immediately after you import it w/no tweaking. At this point you can start tweaking the new model w/the editor or just change the .plng3 file to a model that is similar. For the Extra330S I started with the .plng3 for G3's Extra330s (add-on) and then did a little tweaking because my Extra is 40% size model. After you are satisfied with the results G3 creates a "G3X" file which is the finished new plane that can be shared with other G3 users. Of course you can still tweak the plane further and re-paint it etc.. just like any other plane in G3. Its that simple!

Thanks for making your paint schemes available for download.

Giles202 is 100% finished, its almost identical to the one that comes w/AFPD (except for the helium ). Next I'll probably do the Cap232 or Funtana90..

Hey rick Is this update available yet ? Curious. And would it be possible if I can get my hand on your file for the Sky Cutter ? I would love to give this thing a try. Does it fly anything like the real thing ?
Not just yet still beta testing ( their hasn't been a single bug report yet). I will make my "Sky Cutter" available as soon as posiible. It flies like the one in AFPD, I have never flown a real one.

Heres a pic of the model in max.

Rick & Jay:

Thanks for making your planes and colorschemes creations available for all to download again. Kudos to both of you for your contributions to the G3 platform. I know it's hard work, and lots of us don't have graphics talent, and rely on you graphics gurus for eye candy...much appreciated.

Nemo, Rick, and other graphics talents unknown; thanks for your work on the beta export for G3. Looks like many of you have hit-the-ground-running, already way ahead of the game in town. Your works and others will ensure G3 owners will continue to reap the benefits of updates to the platform, which seem to be coming hot-and-heavy lately...kudos.

Hi Rick,
your models look very good. Nice work so far!

But I'm wondering if 3DSmax is a good choice as an editor for user-made models. Sure, it is a very good 3D-editor, but more than 3000 $ a license is really a huge price. I think that there will be only very few users having it legally. Will there be a solution for those who cannot afford a 3DSmax?

Greets,
Lego

Hi Lego,

KE had planed to use GMAX unfortunately Discreet/Autodesk decided for some unkown reason to stop supporting the product (which pissed off quite a few FS 2004 users I bet)

Jim Bourke said they are currently trying to resolve the situation with Discreet/Autodesk and in the mean time they have released a plug-in for 3DS max.

Regards,

Tony

Coming from you that is a big compliment -thanks!

GMAX still works for me, its not like it is unavailable. Just not supported, but it still works just fine.

Hi,
yes, if you are using it. But if you want to develop something for it, you might get some difficulties in getting a license...

Hello Jafitt & all,
Now is the RealFlight G3 Expantion Pack 1 the same as G3X or not, and what does it offer other than new plane, flying field & heli add ons. Just asking if someone could clear things up for me. Just wondering before I order the new add on.

The upcoming expansion pack is not related to G3X. It offers only what you have listed above. There will soon be a free update that will allow you to easily create and share G3X files, which can contain airports, recordings, and aircraft. If you wait for the free update, you will have unlimited access to custom-made aircraft that was never before available for G3.
