Hi Rick,
there is no need to learn Metasequoia. There is an Metasequoia (MQO) import/export plugin for 3DSmax that works very well!
Look [link=http://www.maxplugins.de/max7.php?search=mqo]here[/link].
Cheers,
Lego

I havent used that program rick, but im assuming its a .3ds file its importing?
3ds file doesnt save smoothing groups, uvw maps, animation, or much of anything, its just pure points in space. You would have to re-do that stuff in the end program to get it.
If its importing a max (unlikely) it would work...
Also, Rick, if its possible, could you show a wireframe of that plane (or any of your planes) ... i havent modeled too many planes before...and i really cant think of how to tackle it...efficiently

Here are the steps I took.
I opened the completed MAX file in 3dsmax8 and the exported that file as a ".mqo". I then opened the ".mqo" in Meta R2.1 and thats what I got.

Hi Rick,
Whats the smoothing angle in MLE say for your model ? ....
@ rjm1982, I think the [link=http://www.morrowland.com/apron/article/general/autodesk_3ds/index.php]3ds file format[/link] can contain smoothing groups, UVW cords and animation
regards,
Tony
P.S. not MIA ... I was just on my honeymoon

1st - Congratulations Tony! ... thanks
2nd - I am not sure about the "smoothing angle" in Meta ... I played with Meta a bit when I was trying do some models for FMS. I think you will have to set the smoothing angle for each object again. With regards to materials it seems to import the UVW's ok so all you need to do is create a new material that uses the tga as a texture.
3rd -Any comments about the new "Expansion Pack"? … I think it’s a good thing. I’m just guessing but there must be a point where the new sales slow down and its easier to get an existing customer to purchase an upgrade/add-on than getting a new customer altogether (Ipacs must think the same!) I look at this way … hopefully this will pay for the development time needed to create the new features we keep asking for. If KE ran out of money we would never get any new features.
4th -Do you think there are 13 other guys making new aircraft for G3? … I think there are 13 other guys who signed up for beta. It’s a shame more people haven’t managed to create new aircraft. At least the guys at KE have been quick to respond to our questions (and they have just released an updated beta version BTW)

Congratulations Tony, I hope its a happy union. On that happy note, I would just like to remind you (Dont forget the WWI planes!!! lol) I really dont see how you guys find the time to do this custom work. I dont think that my life is horribly busy but I couldnt think of when I would find time. What hobby would I give up?!

My wife said that I need to give up a hobby if I want another hobby. I asked her if marriage was a hobby...................not a smart move.

Rick,
It works with the g3 controller, sometimes there is small issue with multiple HID's defined, please e-mail me at [email protected] (remove 123) and I will help.
Thanks,
Stefan
