Hello everyone I was debating about getting FSone, G3.5 or AFPD. I have n old computer and am getting ready to purchase a new one (all the more reason with a new flight sim on the horizon, but don't tell the wife). Anyway, I have been reading all the ongoing debates about which is better. I am trying to focus on 3D skills. The computer I was looking at was one of the following:

Dell Dimension E520
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6400 2.13Ghz 1066FSB
2 GB DDR ****M 533Hz
256 MB ATI Radeon X1300Pro

or

Dell Dimension E520
AMD Athelon 64 X2 Dual Core 5000
2 GB DDR ****M 533Hz
256 MB ATI Radeon X1300Pro

Which does everyone think is a better setup and with which sim?

Thanks
Mark

I don't have a good computer or graphics card and so when I first tried the sim it wasn't that good but I took some of the options off and then the sim worked great.

Mark,

Either of those configs SHOULD do the job, but keep in mind that the supplier has stated that FSOne has NOT been tested on a 64 bit system. If it was written intelligently, it should work, but be warned that 'your mileage may vary!!'

I would insist that the vendor perform that testing real soon, as there are more and more buyers of the 64 bit solutions.

A clarification: The earlier question pertained to 64-bit windows. FS One has been tested with Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Home, and Windows XP Media Center, but not Windows XP Professional x64 Editiion. It has been tested with 64-bit processors. For example, we've used it for quite some time with AMD Athlon 64 cpus.

Strykaas - Videos of FS One are here:

http://www.fsone.com/Features/Gallery.aspx

There are also screen grabs taken directly from the sim. Click on the
"See all" buttons to see the entire list.

haneydmd and Strykaas - There is no demo at present.

Mode 2 is the standard stick set up with the Aileron & elevator on the right stick, and throttle & rudder on the left stick. Mode 1 is a different set up on the stick position

Sorry if this has already been answered but I couldn't find it in the thread.
Anyway, my question is this: I have a desktop at our vacation cabin 65 miles away plus a laptop for my work/home use and, of course, I want to be able to use FSone (with the FSone controller) on both of them. Both computers meet the recommended specs but is there any subscription/legal problem installing FSone on both of my machines??. If that is OK, does that complicate downloading updates and plane additions into each computer as they become available??
Thanks, Jim

I have it on my laptop and my desktop. The thing is you are only allowed one Connector That is the security.. That is what the Horizion guy told me. I put it on my desktop and it was just too slow. I got a new laptop and it runs fine.. Just can't get a connection with my radio!!

The license states that you can install on one primary computer and one portable computer (something to this effect, i.e. two computers). Yes, you can maintain FS One on both and keep them both up-to-date w/ patches w/o issues. Just download the patch and install that patch on both computers.

I don't know the answer. But if you go to the FS One website, on the top left corner is a tinnie tiny button "Contact". Click that to send Horizon an email w/ your question. I do know that FS One will be distributed "worldwide" and that already people are using it outside the US.

It’s available from the Sussex model centre in the UK. They will ship to Europe. I'd email them first to get an idea of the shipping cost.

1.0.4 patch for FS One

There is a new patch available for FS One. This patch addresses a range of issues -- some large, some small.

The patch is available at: [link=http://www.fsone.com/Downloads/]http://www.fsone.com/Downloads/[/link]

It can be directly applied over the 1.0.1 (out of box), 1.0.2, or 1.0.3 versions of FS One.

The readme file details the changes in the 1.0.4 patch.

As a new owner of FSOne, I really think it is an amazing piece of software. A bug I've run into involves changing the engine on the Ultra Stick 120 to a Saito 100. After the change is done, clicking on FLY crashes the program causing it to quit. Changing the engine back to the default makes it right again. Anyone else have experiences like this?

Real glad to hear you like it.

The bug w/ the Saito 100 engine in the editor was just fixed w/ the new patch. The patch to install is here:

http://www.fsone.com/Downloads/

This brings things up to version 1.0.4.

I applied the new patch and FSOne would not start up. I restarted my computer and it still would not launch. I had to uninstall the program and reinstall from the CD's. It's working now and I'm back to version 1.0.1. Will you repost the 1.03 patch? I think you need to look at patch 1.0.4 for bugs.

skorman -

I'm not sure why that did not work for you. The 1.0.4 patch was tested on several computers w/o a hitch.

I just did a complete brand new install and then added patch 1.0.4 over top of that (downloaded from online like you did), and it works as it should.

Here's the prior patch if you want to get it:

Brian,

That's pretty cool to see new patches released. What are InertiaSoft plans in a foreseable future ? I mean, do you have any clear roadmap in mind ? We currently see patches relased to fix bugs, mostly. Is there any plan to move on to 2.0 version one day with loads of new features and maybe improved physics ? Michael, do you think you have now reached the 'freeze' point regarding physics ? Can you see any improvement in them ?

Is InertiaSoft relying on Hangar9 to exist ? What are the plans of Hangar 9 ? What are they asking for ? Are they just buying your product or do they have some kind of influence on your roadmap ?

Keep up the good work guys

Being the trusting person that I am, I applied the 1.0.4 patch and again FSOne will not start up. Now I have to install from the CD's again. (At least an hour as you know). I have an HP desktop with AMD 3200 processor, 1GB memory and GeForce 7300 graphics card. It's going to be hard to trust these patches again. The 1.0.3 patch worked fine.
