Thanks David, that was my point.

I did a search for 2 minutes on my BlackBerry and found both the CRRCSIM and the AlphaSoftware site. My point was simply this, do a search on Google there are tons of information out there. I'm not trying to obfuscate information, but this is an analogy to someone saying RTFM or use forum search. With the resources that are available on the internet today, just in search engines, I can't believe that only two people on this large forum would think to search Google....

WOW It actually work pretty well on my Mac.
Now I just need to figure out how to get my controller to work with it. Flying with the mouse can be a pain.

Ok heres the deal. I've heard a lot of people talking about how they want a good RC flight sim for mac. I have a Mac, and REALLY want a sim. So...I'm protesting. This thread is kind of a petition, which I will later be sending to Apple, and most of the major flight sim companies. Maybe I can get someone to make a Mac compatible one. You've entered my territory:-)

Apple has nothing to do with it, they make computers... not software. Who you would need to convince is a developer, and you won't convince them. There are few games on MAC because there are few MAC users. Today even a "cheap" computer game cost around $10 million to produce. If they don't think they can make more than that on the game, they won't make the game. You are asking for a game with an extremely limited audience. MAC users who also fly RC planes. You won't find anyone who will be willing to do that. The reason the Windows sims are so expensive is that the audience is limited to RC Airplane hobbiests, nobody else will be interested in the software. They only make it for Windows because they can make a profit selling the software for $200. With the MAC audience then being only about 1/5 of the PC audience, they would need to charge about $1000 for MAC RC flight sim software to make their money back. You won't pay that, so they won't make it.

There are emulators out there, you should probably try to find one that will run some Windows RC flight sim software. You may find that your choices are limited by what will work with the emulator. If you are not doing intense desktop publishing, make your next computer a Windows computer. They don't make a lot of software for MACs, especially games. If you want to play any type of game you really want to have a Windows computer.

No. You can buy 3rd party virtualization software like Parallels (http://parallels.com) and VMware (http://vmware.com) which does let you run Windows and OS X side-by-side. However most graphics-intensive programs, including most major Windows flight sims, will not run under current virtualization software. A few sims, such as Aerofly Pro Deluxe, ClearView and FMS, will work under Parallels, but they run much slower than if you boot directly into Windows. I've personally tried ClearView and FMS running under Parallels 3.0, and while they work I found the framerates to be too low for them to be enjoyable to use. For instance if I run ClearView booted directly into Windows on my MacBook Pro, I get about 220 FPS, but when I run it under Parallels, I get about 25 FPS, which for me is barely usable.

Aerofly Deluxe runs great under Bootcamp on the new 20" iMac 2 gHz. I have Parallels, but I haven't tried it yet with Aerofly. I prefer Bootcamp and the total Windows environment.

Exactly. 25 FPS is just enough that one can make a technically truthful claim that it works under Parallels, but it's too slow for it to be very enjoyable to use. Boot Camp is still the way to go.

Rebooting into Windows isn't that big of a pain. I like the flat out speed with Bootcamp. I'm used to holding downt the option key with booting back and forth.

The likeliness of a sim marketed for a mac has the same likeliness of a sim marketed for linux (ubuntu and similar linux based OSs). Lets face it: have you looked around the last time you were at an Apple store? There's only a handful of notable games. EA, one of the largest game manufacturer, has maybe 5 games marketed on the Mac platform and that is probably a high estimate.

If you upgrade to OS X 10.5 Leopard, it comes with bootcamp and the windows drivers are on the disk. if you never downloaded boot camp beta, you'll never see it unless you upgrade to leopard. even if you do use bootcamp, you still need a legit keycode for XP so you can get all the updates.

An RC sim for Mac won't be out for a LONG time so don't hold your breath.

While I know it's highly unlikely Apple or another vendor will write a flight sim for OS-X I will add my vote for a Mac flight SIM.

I have a 1.25Ghz Power PC dual processor G4 running OS-X 10.4.10 so I can't do much but wish I had the new dual platform i-Macs and Macbooks.

If someone did write an app I'd buy it.

I have recently got a new i mac intel core 2 duo thingy, if I run norton for mac will it protect the pc side of things or is that a whole separate issue, oh and if a good sim was released for mac I would snap it up in a nano second. Blue sky how long until that is available ?

eFlightWorks is not a simulator, but the software used to configure our USB v.4 Transmitter-to-Computer interface as well as to work with our new eFlightWatt wattmeter/data logger.

People, who buy out USB interfaces to use them with Mac computer, run X-Plane, SSS, and CRRCsim simulators, but they have to go to a Windows PC to configure the interface. Soon (as soon as I get through all the GCC/XCode "limitations", a.k.a. bugs) and publish Mac version of eFlightWorks software, they will be able to configure our interfaces right from their Macs.

Using eFlightWatt wattmeter/data logger with Mac desktops/laptops will be a unique feature of our product, as none of the competitors supports Mac platform.

My understanding is that Bootcamp, once installed under Tiger, has no 'expiration date'. But it is true that you will not (after 12/31/07) be able to download, install, and partition your Mac HD with it. So my recommendation to all fellow Intel Mac users who aren't ready to spring for Leopard just yet is to download and use BootCamp right away. You will still be able to boot into Windows after 12/31/07.

You are right. I mistook some comments by contributors after the announcement. I thought it strange unless there are dated drivers that would terminate on Dec 31.

BTW, Realflight G4 runs fine on the iMac.

I do not yet have a MAC but plan to get one eventually, meanwhile I tried to view and download "BootCamp" and could not find any link for it on the Apple Location.

Can you provide a direct link that it can be downloaded from?

Mac version of eFlightWorks 3.05 has been posted as a beta release:

I have an Intel iMac 20". I downloaded and tried to use Alpha Mac's heli sim but was having issues with using my controller.
With my new Esky Co Comanche I got their flight sim (complete with instructions in Japanese, thanks) - but it only runs on Windoze. I just need to install a version of Windoze on here and I can run Parallels.

Oh BTW - if you have Wintendo 98 and plan on putting that on your Mac via Parallels - DON'T. THat will save you several hours of your life, ie I can't believe how long we put up with Windoze.

I must ask you.are you absolutley sure that Aerofly will run on The mac OS under Bootcamp""" The reason I ask is I want to get a new Imac but have been considering a PC just for the sim's out there. I have been useing Vista and it is not so bad really. But the Mac is so supiror in most other ways I would like to just keep my mac's. I would hate to buy a iMac and find out that I need my PC to run Aerofly. I find Aerofly to be the best flight sim out now and want to keep flying it. But I miss my Mac so bad. Like I said Vista is not so bad but it takes so much more time to do anything on it just because I am a nob on any Windows machine.

Please confirm that Aerofly will work on a iMac 2gz for me.
