Default Which one is better?

Hi all,

Between Real Flight G3.5 and FS1, which sim would you buy and please state your reasons. I look at the G3.5 after I bought the FS1 and I think that G3.5 has much better graphics in terms of flying fields and planes. I think that the FS1 controller is better since I had the chance to play on both. Thanks DP

There are a couple of threads that already hash this question out thoroughly.

You might read through this one to get a bunch of answers very quickly.

Thank you for your help. This is what I gather from reading from RCU on this.

1. G3.5 has better graphics, more planes and fields. More ability to change parameters. More game oriented. Less demanding on CPU.

2. FS1 has lesser graphics, less planes and fields. Less ability to change parameters. More realistic in terms of how actual planes fly. A sim to buy if you want to duplicate the experience at the field so it has less gaming features. More demanding on CPU.

Am I right? DP

Realflight has much much better heli physics than FSOne IMHO. With the G3.5 updates that just came out I think the plane physics are probably about equal with Realflight being just a bit better. Overall IMHO Realflight is just a much more mature product. It's been around a lot longer. The advantage of FSOne is that the developers have been very responsive to the issues and there seems to be a desire to take it to the next level. Right now though I think RealFlight takes the cake between the two.

Another good one to look at is Phoenix. www.phoenix-sim.com. Tower Hobbies sells it. A little cheaper than realflight and fsone but it does not come with a fake transmitter so you have to use your own. It's got some advanatages though. The plane and heli physics are great and it also includes float flying which is something that realflight does not have. It too is new though and is going thru growning pains but the developers have been very reponsive and they have released a lot of new planes/helis since it was released free of charge.

My impression is that G3 has been around longer so it has passed the stage of "bugs". It is a seasoned product with lots of add-ons. Here comes FS1 with the "kickbutt" attitute and there are lots of hype around it. It can be an excellent sim once it passes through the initial stage. I am suprised that the FS1 developers don't invest more time to render the planes especially the 3D fields to be more realistic. I think that give a year with at least 5 patches and add-ons, G3 will have a serious competition. DP
