FSone program closes

My Feedback: (6)
I just got FS one and installed and it sometimes it opens with no runway or landscape detail, just bare ground with the plane in the middle of nothing. I can exit and hit "fly" again and it will usually load correctly. It also sometimes closes on its own with no warning or error messages. I have to click on the shortcut and re-start it and it will do fine until I change something then it will close again without warning, the changes I made are usually saved but its very annoying, is this normal?. Do I need to un-install and re-install it? I have a 2 yr old HP media center Pc with Xp. Any help would be appreciated!!!!!!

That is not normal.
It seems that your video card or memory cannot handle the software fast enough.
Check the capacity of the elements of your machine against the requirements shown on the box, before trying reloading the whole thing.
Regards!

Ok, I'm definitely not a computer expert but I checked my system against the requirements and it appears to be more than adequate. Here's what I have:
HP Pavilion Desktop
Xp media center edition 2002 Service pack 2
100Gb sata hard drive with 38% free space
Amd 64x2 dual core 5000+
2.61Ghz, 2Gb ram
NVIDIA Ge Force 6150 le video card
Fsone wont even stay open now, when I click on "fly" it just closes out. I've got a message sent in to FSone product support, who knows when they will respond.
Has anyone else had this kind of problem with Fsone or any ideas what my problem might be?

hugger thanks for your reply about me starting up with a new beginner heli!
It can be a bit tough to troubleshoot this without being at your pc, but I will throw
a bunch of things to check/try your way and see what happens:
1: make sure your nvidia drivers are digitally signed and have the newest version NOT from microsoft updates,
but directly from nvidias website.
2: uninstall the program and make sure to disable your spyware protection and virus protection when you install.
Restart the pc imidiately after and double check your virus and spyware protection is on.Many times these will prevent certain scripts
from being written and mess up the install.
3: once you run the program, check the setting around video and see if it has safe mode video settings.
Some video cards don't handle certain shading, anti-aliasing and so on.
4: if this does not work, hit cntl alt delete and hit performance and see if something is taking up all your memory or cpu power.
If something does, go into processes and find it, and you'll need to find out what that's all about.
5: also in your video setting within the software, make sure you are using hardware rendering. Does the software recognize
your video card??? sounds like software rendering to me.
6: make sure you have no virus and malware. if you have none you can dl avira antivir which is free and google also malwarebytes, which also is free. they will clean you right up. Don't have two anti virus programs running at the same time.
I think this is good for starters, any questions just ask.

also make sure you get the latest windows updates...yes, it is not always perfect but it is important to make sure that windows and the nvidia drivers are "talking" the same langurage sometimes.

Thanks abunch agapetos, I'll check all of this out. I have dial up service and any online updates are a pain. I know I haven't updated any Nvidia drivers since I've owned it unless windows has automatically done it for me. Now that you mention it, I'm also not sure my antivirus was disabled. I got rid of the Norton that was on the PC when I bought it and now I have AVG.(not the free version, paid about $150 for this one) I closed out the AVG control box icon, but I'm not sure if this actually disables it or do I have to go into "my computer" and "control panel" to dissable AVG?

I am not too familiar with the full version of AVG, but if you right click on the icon at the bottom left you should get either a disable option or go into the main window and from there close it out.
I am pretty shure that there is some registry protection on it too, so be aware if it pops up to click allow to get it to work properly.
Yeah, dial up........is that like for real?? I mean it might be worth something when it is that old....
good luck

Yeah I know, I live in the sticks, I'm going to be moving soon and I'll have high speed cable access at my new house,(still in the sticks though). Right now I have the Hooterville phone company. (have to watch Green Acres to get that one) The only high speed option I have here is satelite and I can't justify the cost of that. Anyway, thanks for the help, after I've gone thru everthing you listed, I'll post what I find out! Thanks again, and good luck with the new Heli!

run dxdiag on your computer and make sure you have hardware acceleration enabled. just go to run and type in dxdiag and hit enter. also i had to enable verticle sync as the sim requires it else i get a slight ripple effect while flying. i have antialiasing set to let application decide... same for anistropic filtering. also overlooked... make sure you are running 32bit color! 16 bit will cause havoc.
