Thank you for the info. I just got a P4 2.8 with a 533 FSB. I will install tonight and hopefully solve my Frame rate problem. The CPU I have now is only 400 FSB. I will let you know how this works out.

Hey Brian, I just made a whole bunch of videos with 3D maneuvers and can't seem to have my friend, or other people, run them on their PC. how do you share recordings? I went into the recordings folder and copied all the files and sent them to him. however, the files were way small and I wasn't sure. I also was using my edited airplane when recording the files. when he tries to open them up his FSONE crashes.

BTW, FSONE is the most realistic sim for 3D available. much better than G3 and the rest. I've used them all, and this is the absolute closest in high alpha to the real thing. i love it.

Fixed my radial "lines" problem in my panorama. I just did a batch convert of the original squares to tga instead of jpg and for some reason that fixed it. Don't know why the jpg versions had the radial lines. Got it all setup now and it looks great. I would be great full to the IntertiaSoft team if you could release information on creating detailed collision detection and overlays in the panos so that I can add this to my new fields. Right now, the most needed info is mapping the panos for collison and field type (grass, concrete, dirt etc....). I see some of the files that do it but have no idea what the data in them means. Thanks!! I'm flying every night in FSone and loving it!!

RE: FS One by Hangar 9

In G3, to make 'Pano' objects deal with collisions (eg: a tree) , you would simply insert a 3D object of an appropriate tree in the same spot, them make it invisible. It would still collide while invisible, making it look like the associated pano object caused it.

Can a similar action be done with FS-One, and if so, what are the details for accomplishing it.

Tom,
Here's the text from this patch:
============================================

FS One (TM) -- Precision RC Flight Simulator

Patch 1.0.6

============================================

This patch should be installed to bring the simulation exe to Version 1.0.6.
It can be installed over any version prior to Version 1.0.6.

After installing the patch and restarting the sim, you should note that the
version number at the bottom of the Main Menu should indicate Version 1.0.6
(if a different version is indicated, the patch was not installed correctly).

If you have difficulties installing the patch, visit http://www.fsone.com
and review the FAQs. If you still have problems after reviewing the FAQs,
please contact Hangar9 customer support at (877)504-0233.

Changes for Version 1.0.6:
--------------------------

1) Fixed sound problem for various types of sound cards. This fix involved
working around incorrect capabilities data reported by the sound driver.

2) Corrected ParkZone SloV 11x3.7 prop data.

3) Corrected Circleville Stock Pavilion sun position.

4) Corrected ScaledUltimateTOC-FullScale information.

Changes for Version 1.0.5:
--------------------------

1) Disabled screensaver and power management while sim is running. This
will prevent the screensaver from turning on while FS one is active.

2) Modified Alpha 40 exhaust direction

3) Updated some heli JR 6-Ch Emu transmitter files. The
"JR 6-Ch Emu + FS One" Tx group has been changed so that Flight Modes
now depend on the Tx channel assignments (like airplanes) and not the
joystick axes assignments (Axis numbers). This simplifies things by
removing a step when making a copy and editing the Tx in the Tx editor.

The following files were impacted:

RadioEquip/Tx/JREmu6Ch_FS1_Heli_BladeCP/Tx.cfg
RadioEquip/Tx/JREmu6Ch_FS1_Heli_JetCopterSX/Tx.cfg
RadioEquip/Tx/JREmu6Ch_FS1_Heli_ScaleHeli/Tx.cfg
RadioEquip/Tx/JREmu6Ch_FS1_Heli_Vigor/Tx.cfg
RadioEquip/Tx/JREmu6Ch_FS1_Heli_Voyager50/Tx.cfg
RadioEquip/Tx/JREmu6Ch_FS1_Heli_VoyagerE/Tx.cfg

4) Changed wind behavior to allow wind speed and direction changes,
even if the wind speed is zero.

5) Corrected the discrepancy between the map display and the wind widget.

6) Added "Help" and "Flight Manual" links to Main Menu.

7) Added an automatic ability to determine if the "options file" is missing
or corrupt, and if it is, automatically utilize the default options file.

8) Added a new logbook interface. This provides a nice way to review the
total flight time for each aircraft.

9) Corrected a two player radio edit problem that caused problems when
editing the "player 2" radio. Previously, if you edited a transmitter
in the second position, it edited the transmitter in the first position.
This now functions properly.

Changes for Version 1.0.4:
--------------------------

1) Corrected inertia tensor data scaling problem.

2) Modified the default_options.txt file to change default views
(lagged views).

3) Added trademarks section to credits.

4) Expanded limits for max/min from -1.5/+1.5 to -2.0/+2.0 in
Edit Transmitter menu.

5) Expanded limits for non-exponential percentages from -150/+150 to
-200/+200 in Edit Transmitter menu.

6) Modified aircraft and transmitter name comparison to be case insensitive.

7) Added numbers to axis displays of Tx Selection menu (and ghosted-out
inactive channels/axes)

8) Added numbers to axis displays of Tx calibration menu (and ghosted-out
inactive channels/axes)

9) Added highlighting to the active axis during calibration

10) Added the ability to edit the Tx Description and 3-part name in
Edit Tx menu

11) Corrected problem where some controllers could not fully complete the
calibration sequence.

12) Fixed problem in Edit Transmitter menu when the Source input axis was
adjusted.

13) Extended the Input Type drop-down list in the Select Channel Input
dialog within the Edit Transmitter menu.

14) Fixed slider display problem when using joystick button input in the
Select Channel Input dialog within the Edit Transmitter menu .

15) Corrected typo in Ultra Stick Lite (200 inch scaled version) description

16) Corrected typo in Edge 540 less expo Tx (name change)

17) Corrected Saito100 airplane engine file in airplane editor

18) Changed behavior of airplane hover damping weight parameter (2)

Changes for Version 1.0.3:
--------------------------

1) Corrected CG limit adjustment problem that prevented a negative cg
location.

Changes for Version 1.0.2:
--------------------------

1) Corrected calibration problem that prevented a recalibration after
the initial calibration was performed.

Just ordered FS One from Horizon today. I have been using the sim that came with my Mustang PTS and it has served its purpose as an initial training aide to get me off the ground...and back down safely. I forsee this as being a valueable learning tool to help me improve my skills. Now all I have to do is wait for the UPS truck.....and read this thread. Frank

Tom -- Most likely, your friend's problem has nothing to do with upgrading to 1_0_6. That version does not not have any changes that could prevent problems with the controller. Have him contact Hangar9 phone support or have him post here for help.

If the recordings are for copies of airplanes (as you describe), then you need to copy over the new airplane names (folders) that are in the FS One Graphics/Aircraft/FixedWing folder. What's happening is that the recordings on your system point to these copied airplane graphics, and these copies are not on your friends system ... until you copy them over along w/ the recording files. Sorry for the lag in replying here.

I am glad to hear your comment on the aero. It has been fun/challenging trying to figure all this out. We have more physics to add!, e.g. wing rock and also some hovering tweaks and some other very subtle things. We are however focused on getting out some new aircraft at the moment.

Reasons for not replying cover the range of the usual suspects ... from "don't recall" seeing it to being focused on new aircraft.

Do you want to test drive a new manual? I don't want to over promise what's included, but it is "new". Describing all the Tx/Mixing capabilities part of the sim will require quite literally a manual like you get w/ a new JR9303 and more. We don't have it that far along, but it is better than the one that installs w/ FS One. BTW - Our focus was to have the airplanes all setup w/ mixing and flight modes, etc for flying like real, and that's what does install w/ the sim. To go the next step is an exercise and the new manual covers some of that.

Tomorrow I will check back on your posts #318 and #322.

Hi!

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I would love to play lab rat for your manual. I have been involved in writing software users manuals and would be pleased to give feedback. Besides, I love learning new program languages, but never get really profecient at any except VAX/VMS Basic and Progress database system on Digital Equipment Corp. (DEC). Basic on the VAX is more powerful than anyone could possibly imagine for a "Beginners All purpose Symbolic Instruction Command set";). I just like to keep my hand in it.

BTW,

I have an AXE CP and I am currently using the Blade CP to train on. I find that the Blade is a little twitchy for a beginner so I created a trainer model using the third un-used flight mode position. I named it trainer and increased the EXP considerably. As I get better, I continually reduce the EXP until I will finally be at the original setting of 30.

We all have planes that are not exactly stock and Tx. that do things somewhat differently than the same stock systems and I simply want to be able to setup my sim to work like my system which may require extra switches and channels, and various other mods. The mechanics of what I need are there I just need to know how to program it all together. Of course the option to use my own Tx. is there but I would still have to program the plane for these changes. Perhaps I'm crazy, but I like to mess around under the hood of nearly everything I get into. Life is not living unless your learning.

Tnx,

Bill

Brian,

I'm thinking of buying FS ONE but the version that doesn't come with a Tx. I heard if I use my JR radio, that I have to adjust the settings/trim for EVERY plane. Is this true? If so, will this be corrected soon?

Also, can I buy the original Tx (that is made for FS ONE) and will this correct the issue of having to adjust settings/trim for every plane?

Thanks,
Nick

PS I've been searching through this thread and it's too big so sorry if this has been covered a bunch of times.

What JR Tx do you have?

ps I'd recommend the one w/ the TacCon Tx. You can use it w/ your own Tx as well if you want to migrate away from the TacCon.

Hi Michael!

Thanks for the reply!

I'm using the XP-652

I'm getting a heck of a deal on the version without the Tx so this is why I ask but I'm concerned that there are other CONS to this version, first one being the settings/trim for EVERY plane. Then I found out that I can purchase the original Tx for another $30 but if I do...will this work exactly like the package that comes with the Tx?

Hope this makes sense.

Nick

RE: FS One by Hangar 9

The radio you show is JR and will work w/ the sim as a 6 channel setup. The TacCon has more channels and you can therefore do more on the controller. With the 6 channel one that you show, some controls are displaced to the keyboard (because it has less capability). Using the keyboard more is inconvenient, but the sim is absolutely setup to work w/ a 6 ch radio.

The sim has been tested w/ a XP-662, but not w/ an XP-652. Nevertheless, it is JR so it will work.

You can get the one w/o the TacCon and then later purchase the controller. It will work. You just plug in the TacCon into the USB gadget instead of your real radio.

If you had an XP9303, then I think you're prefer using that over the TacCon (feel wise).

ps You don't have to setup the XP-652 separately w/ each aircraft. There are setups for 6 ch radios already in the sim when you install.

Sweet! Then it looks like this is the SIM for me! I was really fearing the mundane setup but since that won't be an issue and I can always add the $30 TacCon Tx, then I'm sold!

We've added more material to the help manual, and it can be downloaded from here:

http://www.inertiasoft.com/fsonefaq/#Q1052-FS1

These latest improvements come thanks to the efforts of FS One beta-tester Camille Goudeseune (http://zx81.isl.uiuc.edu/camilleg/rcfly/).

The new help manual will also be included in an upcoming patch. This version should be considered "beta" in the meantime.

We're open to any feedback. We'll keep improving it.

The new help manual should let you work "under the hood" w/o too many "knuckle bangers", err ... w/ fewer "knuckle bangers". The programming that can be done w/ the sim can be pretty intense. If you want to really have an up-close look, go to the RadioEquip/Tx folder and open the Tx file for the Tx you create. That's where things begin. Also, the RadioEquip/Controllers folder has the info file for each Tx you create. These files are not necessarily meant to be human readable (but we did make all the radio setups by editing these files by hand which is faster than using a GUI).

Michael
