There has to be an explanation with such a pronounced difference left versus right.

I'm still investigating the issue you've raised w/ the Edge 540. What you describe does not seem to happen w/ the other airplanes. It does happen w/ the Edge 540 as you describe however. It seems to me like there might be a number ... out of place. I'm looking at it.

Michael

Part of the effect on the Edge 540 is caused by P-factor (propeller effects, right/left yaw in this case). Another part did not belong, and it's been fixed. The next patch will have the fix for this. We're getting the patch ready now.

BTW - Good catch. Thanks.

Hi Michael,

Yes, that is good news. Thanks for the quick resolution. I will be eagerly awaiting the patch. Now I can only blame my poor flying skills. :)

I dont know if this has already been asked, but is there a website or forum like what G3.5 has for where people have created planes and swap them (http://www.knifeedge.com/forums/down...?do=cat&id=119) or has FS One been developed so only the developers can create planes?

what is the differance between the mode 1 controler and the mode 2?

Check Post 2 for a diagram, but essentially changing the modes changes which stick, left or right, controls the collective/throttle

Running Windows Vista Ultimate 64...QX6800 processor 4gb of RAM and Nvidia 8800GTX video card. FSOne works great except one thing. When I click to load a new airplane or heli it take almost 5 minutes to load....Everything else comes up extremely fast. Performance is great in all modes except loading the aircraft. Any ideas????

I have reset everything to its default values with no luck...

RE: FS One by Hangar 9

Mine doesn't take 5 minutes but it sure takes 5-10 seconds which is odd. Running full details, I'm at 100-120 FPS ... maybe it's a lot of data to load and it chugs our hard drives. : )

Hi ZBO,

The Mode 2 controller has controls set for the way that we usually use them here in the USA, with throttle and rudder on the left stick, and elevator &U aileron on the right. The Mode 1 controller is configured for what has been traditionally used by European fliers. I forget what that is at the moment...

I hope that answers your question,

Bob

RE: FS One by Hangar 9

Hi All,
Well it took 6 months, cold weather and a "spare" computer from my office and I'm back in the flight simulator business. Save for a few problems getting started.
First re-impression; after getting FSOne loaded and updated; flying feels good. I found though after 6 months of inactivity that either the wire that plugs into the transmitter, or the connection on the USB connector is sketchy. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and I've found if I hold it a certain way, it'll be fine. I'll have to call FSOne support/Horizon to see if they'll replace it.
I also found that after I fly, and choose to switch airplanes or helicopters, and press the fly button, that nothing happens. Well not nothing, the airplane indicates it is loading and when the loading message disappears then nothing happens. I have to exit out of FSOne and then start the program over again.
Equipment set up; Pentium 4, 1gig, GeoForce 6200AGP with 256mb, hooked up to a projector, projecting onto the wall. my screen is 7'high and about 10' across, anyway I digress, FSOne patched up to 1.0.7. I'm averaging only about 20 - 40 fps, but I haven't yet looked into the video card set up to see what is possible.
Anyone heard of this loading problem? As soon as I solve this I'm ready to jump into the hanger pack

Hi Scott,

I had the same issues with my cable near the connector that goes to the transmitter. I sent it in with a note describing the problem. They confirmed the issue when the got it, they called me to clarify and they sent me a good one without any hassle. It took a while but other than that it was straight forward.

As far as your 'new' machine, did you try the usual upgrade video and audio driver routine. That seems to be a fix all for most people.
cheers,
Dave

Dave,
That was it, no more software stalls. Nvidia had a driver update and so did the integrated audio. Tomorrow FSOne hanger Pack!
Thanks again for your suggestion

RE: FS One by Hangar 9

Moving right along, I'm still unsure of some of the transmiter editor functions, they don't seem to act like I expect.

Anyway, the latest attempt was to get the hold switch to work on the right toggle and the flight mode to work on the left switch. I either didn't understand the faq's or there is something wrong.
So, I'm willing to give on on that and move on. Anyone know how to bypass the FSOne editor and just let the radio control the heli. as in not using any of the transmitter features in FSOne, and only use the set up in the radio. I thought there was a FAQ for that, but I didn't see it.
Thanks
Scott H

Wire connector update:
I explained to Chris at Horizon Hobby about the intermittent connection on the wire that connects to the transmitter, he left me for a minute and came back on the line, asked me for my name and zip code, bang, he found me in the computer and said he'd send it out in tomorrow's mail. I asked him how much it would be and he said no charge.
Gave me warm and fuzzy feelings:).

RE: FS One by Hangar 9

Update,
I finally just decided to move forward with the "wing it" approach to trying my own Dx6 transmitter. Now I'm not talking about using my own transmitter and then using FSOne's software emulation, I'm talking about using the DX6 trasmitter in heli mode to control the heli.

After I made a copy of the Trex 450 radio (from the hanger pack) I first turned off the program mixes from loading in the Normal and idle up section. Then I deleted all the program mixes from the mixes section. Then manually set my transmitter to the correct servo direction, and the ccpm interactions (this took the longest time) I finally ended up copying a second stock trex emulation radio and under the edit mode to look at the servo movements. I then created a chart that mapped the transmitter outputs and how they affected the servos. I took all that info and transferred it to the dx6 set up.
If anyone does this, make sure you set the transmitter into Heli mode, and the gyro gain selector switch to F (the idle up won't work in any other mode, well I only tried A to be honest). Oh and for the initial set up, turn off ccpm in the radio, it is too hard to see the stick movements with the ccpm interaction. I did need to calibrate the transmitter after I had all this done.
No need to map the hold switch, cause it doesn't need to be mapped (it functions within the radio - I have found some inconsistent behavior in the motor on restart, but I think I read somewhere that this is behavior by design.)
Now when I want to adjust my expo, or stick throws, I just do it in the transmitter.
Mike, or Brian any interest in doing a FAQ for this?

RE: FS One by Hangar 9

Scott,
Sounds like you got it working and HH is helping you out. I still use wires so I don't know anything about the dx6. I sue my Futaba with its built in programs and my own setups. It took me a while to realize that you can totally customize the aircraft setup that goes with your transmitter simply by making a copy of the aircraft and editing it. I haven't tried it but this program is hugely flexible.

cheers,
dave

RE: FS One by Hangar 9

I even downloaded an image of my transmitter and have put it in the program files so I don't even have to fake it any more with a JR 9303 image icon ... not that it's a big deal. You could probably do the same.
cheers,
dave

RE: FS One by Hangar 9

Dave, I've never used any of the alternative flight simulators, but FSOne is very flexible. If I have a fault it is that the added flexibility (the editable fields in the airplanes and heli's) are too technical for me. I might want to see what happens if I change the rotor length, but I don't understand the fields to change that, or I might want to put in a more powerful motor to see what happens to the responsiveness of the heli, but that too I don't understand. For those who understand the level of detail, I think it is incredible.
I like the idea of changing the graphic for the transmitter, I'll have to do that.
Now if I could just prevent the heli from flying out of my visible range;)

Help[:-]
I can't figure out how to change the gyro control. I'm using my own transmitter and all my own mixes, I've turned off all the mixes in the software and mapped all the (or as many as I know of) channels to the correct axis. But My gyro setting is running in reverse. When in Idle up, left switch closest to me the gryo is in rate mode, when in Normal mode, the left switch furtherest away the gyro is in hh mode.
I've played with the gyro settings in the helicopter edit menu, but all I'm able to do is crash the software when I choose an invalid selection.
Anyone ever tried to reverse the gyro setting? and if so how is it done.

Any of you ever find that the landing surfaces whether it be grass or pavement seem harder in FS One than in RL? ... leading to much more exaggerated bouncing? : )

With my Mustang PTS, I bounce much more often in RL than in the simulator.
