Well, the best of the more readily available mainstream brands like HPI, FG, MCD, and the lessers. There are stand out platforms from niche manufacturers out there.

just as i was on about slapping a body on and calling it good, behold the MCD W5 sc truck actually looks really, really good (not so keen on what's underneath)...so i'll be guilty also of the body slapping too....body and tires will be going on my toxyc i reckon[8D]

Looks great....
By the way....for those that look at this truck and say it is sooo exspensive:
I wanted to race indoor carpet this winter...(snows here you know)
and I looked into the 1 /10th sedans....
Xray T3 2012, Teckn speed ctl and motor... batteries... ect ect...
500$+350$+200$200$+100$.... whole package....1300$!....
I can take away the controller-200$ and servo -100$.... so 1000$ for me...
It doesn't take much to get up there.... This is 1/10th scale ....sedan racing....
yes I added top items... but go big or go home IMHO....
MCD's truck is 1300$ minus servos and radio...

Listening to the preview video....I must say, this looks like a really awsome truck....
I would really like to get one....
The only issue I think about is the quality comming out of China....
But they say that this truck has the 7075 t6 alluminum...shocks and shock towers....
The little I have learned about this is T6 is the heat treatment... and the 7075 is the mix...

RE: Official Losi 26cc 5IVE-T Thread
hey I posting again....
watched the youtube video ...against the MCD buggy.....
At 1st, it looked as though the truck was so big that it bullied EVERYthing off the track!....
The Open wheels on the buggies didn't help them any...
Overall...looked good...
It seemed though that it took much more work from the driver to keep it going fast...
Twards the end of the race, it seemed the driver fatiged and made many mistakes...
The Blue buggy that passed the 5t was in LAST place, after it rolled over in a bad corner for marshalls to get to quickly...
It then Yarded it quite quickly after it was able to get around the 18-wheeler!....(Joke),,,
I do not think it is in the same class ...
Speculation...yes... perhaps mainly do to the engines in the MCDS.... as they had at min... tuned pipes...which helps heeps...

I drove one the other day with a 50cc motor in it at a dealer demo here in norcal, it was AWESOME. Definitely the best 1/5 scale 4x4 I've ever driven. It handled like a touring car and was very fun. Of course the 50cc engine helped but still, the handling will be the same. The W5 better be real good and HPI better have something great up their sleeves. I can't wait to have a 5IVE-T I'll be driving it every chance I get.

30 years ago people said the same about made in Japan stuff, then it was made in Hong Kong, then S. Korea...all regarded now as high quality producers but it comes at a higher price.

Just got mine and dropped it off at Flowsystem Racing for a new pipe. I grabbged the front bumper to install lights though. It looks well built and the plastic parts are beefy with ribs in all the right spots.
