Well, what was going to be my first full tank ended in tears. I got the motor tuned a little better and was running very well. I flipped it once and that broke the wing and cracked the roll cage. Then, as I was getting ready to head back indoors, a curb jumped out in front of the Baja.......

Total destruction for the day:

The best thing is you have the better HPI plastic available to replace it with........ Or aluminum.

I hope I don't have to eat crow after saying this, but I disagree. I posted a crash vid of mine where you can see the plastic flexing much farther than I would've expected it to without breaking. I haven't ran mine in very cold temps yet though. They all get brittle and break stuff when the temps drop. My 1/8 nitros break from lesser impacts that the Baja has survived.... Now I've jinxed myself.

I did finally bend a rear shock shaft. Straightened it back out in a vice Works fine for now but I expect it'll leak eventually. I'll get a good set of shocks after Xmas. The holidays break me!

Just a heads up, if anyone tries to use the sfl-10mg servo from the SS, you will have to do some modifying to the servo mount. The km servo is rounded whereas the sfl is square. Some creative hacksaw work and hole drilling made mine work. Also, the servo horns are different splines.

I was hoping to get some new vid footage of mine but I didn't have a camera operator today and had to come back to work. I hate working EVERY Sunday. Ugh!

Everybody record some vids!

I think I had to shave a little off each side to get the clips on..not sure if the HPI pins are longer.
I did the same to mine also. I wouldn't waste the money on hinge pins since it is easy to trim those arms with my Dremel.

I went with the HPI ones I don't have a dremel and would have messed it up. The HPI ones are solid you can see/feel the difference. On ebay they have a set of front and rear upper and lower with the e-clips and the brackets in orange for i think $20, I may get that and the HPI front and rear shocks.

Here are some pics!

Lookin good @ce! Have you got to run it with those Hostile rear tires yet? I was wondering how they compared to paddles in the loose stuff. I bet they're much better in grass and fairly hard dirt. I plan on gettin a set eventually.

I hear ya man!
all the plastic I break is replaced with HPI parts and they hold up.
This is the only rc I have that breaks its plastic so fast
my 60mph revo has only broken the rear bumper and I bash that thing hard!
I did make a big score on ebay.. front plastic and rear plate (with front plate and extras) HPI SS parts and also a SS sway bar kit, for dirt cheap!!
all for about the same price as the aluminum front shock mount...

I'm laid off from work again, and will have lots of spare time.. so I hope my parts coome in quick [:-]

A lot of times with different models, all you have to chose from for replacment of breakage is actual origional equipment. With the KM's replacing with either all the aftermarket aluminum stuff, or the HPI plastic, you have little worry that replacment parts are of less quality.

Anyway, I have never had any problem with the KM plastic, but I live in Southern California. Only real plastic stuff I changed was A-arms to the RPM ones, and that was not because anything broke that was KM, it was just that I wanted the rpm stuff.

My point is everything is looking up for us KM owners. Not too much to worry about.

Last I put in a Rhino steering servo yesterday. It is a little smaller than the KM servo, as mentioned above, so I used the billett aluminum frame DDM had on sale. Fit easily and is solid. Now I have the origional KM steering servo as a spare. The new Rhino works OK, but I run it in analog, so it is not as powerful as it could be run digital. I did notice quicker steering, but not more of it.

With some modification to the stock Radio box I got the rhino to fit in my no problem. The stock servo's gears cracked.

I picked up a 1/4 scale servo off ebay all metal gears for only about 25 bucks, after my stocker smoked..
went right in with no issues, and alot more power over the stock one
