It's the Redcat Rampage Dune Runner 4x4...I had it up and running today to start breaking in the engine. It is a different driving beast!!! 4x4 is lovely! Here are some more pics...

I was very afraid when I walked through the door and my sons messed up my sneak-in and announced that "Dad's got a new car!!!!!!!!"...LOL!!! I manned up and went to the Tiffany's site and ordered something nice for her for the holidays!

magnum500 -
I happen to live below the frost line here in florida. The guys I work will tell me the last time it snowed here was 14 years ago. Got 2" and basically shut down everything for a day. LOL I went out and got my Christmas tree after work today in a t shirt and shorts. I will NEVER move back to NY!!! hahahaha BTW if anyone is interested, I got my new bearings in yesterday. Im gonna get the weight of all the stock ones to see how much lighter the ceramics are, then let ya's know.

thanks for the info i was just trying to be cheap and it is hard to replace the hole thing when only one thing is wrong just one gear out of the six is broken if the case was gone then i could justify spending the 60 buck on one but, that is the jew in me.

i thought the ceramics did not hold up to the abuse the steel can take . keep us posted ... i like the idea ....of tampa and the bearings

Now where did you get that idea from? Ceramics can certainly take the abuse...and heat. Plus, if you do proper bearing maintinance like I know you do, the ceramics will outlast the steels by 3 to 1, so nownot only are you saving money, your gonna go faster too!!! Mind you, Ibought the Acer Racing pro series ceramics @ $100w/10% off. Boca makes a set that costs $250. Soafter my ride is all built, i'll report on the performance of the"cheapies" Hopefully I didnt waste my money. Oh BTW I checked with tampa...it doesnt want any snow LOL

I think the problem is with the outdrives fitting with the HPI gears. I think the internal shaft of the KM outdrive is a smaller diamenter. Anyway, for something in the $50.00 range, you can get a new in bag SS HPI Baja aluminum cased diff, and all you have to do is assemble it. It also comes with the big gear around the diff that mates with the other transmission gears and new outdrives. Seems like the right thing to do. I did and it went very easy and everything fit.

I have had a KM Clone know for 4 months....and it is great. The only problem I had with it so far was the e-clips popping off on the wheels. Looks like the friction from the wheel turning might be causing it. A friend has a HPI Baja and he said that has happens to him also....We are now looking at a better fix for this issue!

Well I wieghed just two different size bearings today and oddly enough, the stockers and the Acersweigh the same. (12x24x6) 10g. (17x30x7) 17g. Now the boca bearings are lighter...but just a little: (12x24x6) 9.27g. (17x30x7) 14.37g. Now does that warrant the $250 price tag? I was about to return the acers, but Ithink a good endurance test is in order here.

magnum500 - yeah, Iwould definitely clean all the grease off of the gears and replace with a high quality, high temp synthetic grease as well as dumping what looks like engine oil out of the diff and refill it with a thick diff lube. BigGrump also suggested changing out the stock tranny case for the HPI one to avoid fitment issues with aftermarket top plates. Mines on the way from ebay right now.

500,I just took my tranny apart to day.here is what I noticed, missing bearing 6901,very little grease. everything else looks normal.I would change out the grease and use the metal trans case.

I'd like to try some ceramic engine bearings. Let us know how they work out.

Bbuzzard, can't wait to see some vid of that Dune Runner. It looks well built.

Since nobody else is posting videos........

From today. The vid qualitysucks cause it was in a dark area.
