NUTECH THUNDERBOLT II PRO RACE KIT
I have just received the first of a limited pre-production run of Nutech Racings Thunderbolt II Pro Race Version. This version is only available to distributors and selected racers, this was sent pre-assembled for now but the factory tell me they will come as a kit version once production begins! These will be available with or without CY engines. I choose without as I will be fitting a modified Zenoah 4 bolt 26cc.
Here is the list of spec's for the car but these may or will be changed before production units!
Specifications of the Racing verison:
CNC suspension arm Front/ Rear Lower
CNC Center diff mount
Lightened main gear set
Stainless steel rear upper Turnbuckle,
Stainless steel steering turnbuckle
Stainless steel front upper turnbuckle
CNC roll cage bar
Lightened wheel Axle
Lightened center diff outdrive cup
Lightened outdrive cup
Lightened drive cup
CNC suspension arm front upper
CNC suspension arm rear upper
CNC steering servo saver set
CNC 7075 Ackerman Rod
CNC 7075 front/ rear shock tower
CNC upper suspension holder
CNC C-hub
CNC servo mount
CNC engine mount
CNC flywheel holder
CNC rear wheel stub
CVD
CNC fuel tank cap
CNC diff gear box
CNC servo horns
Lightened clutch bell
Lightened center dog bone front/rear
Wheels with PE inner foam.
I will let the pictures do the talking for now and will update as I go through it and build.

RE: NUTECH THUNDERBOLT II PRO RACE KIT
Thanks guys these are impressive cars and the more I have had to work on them the better they get! They are certainly not budget cars by all means like other clone brand's of Chinese produced 1/5 scale cars, they are more mid to high end range. And these are not in anyway a clone!!!!
Anyway I have completely stripped and filled center and front diff's with 100,000wt silicone oil and 4000 rear. I finished the engine and fitted to chassis I also need to fit some packers to the LHS billet engine mount to compensate for Zenoahs deeper clutch housing, I could of used a CY but decided to keep all Zen.

Sorry Dan and everyone else for lack of quick replies! Bit hard to do work on it and upload progress on this car and also run a full time RC on line shop too
My servos arrived this morning so I will be onto it most of the day and post new pic's etc later on!

Hi all
Nice nice buggy.... saw a couple of buggies, but this is the one i like the most.... the car reminds me the lauterbacher ones (l3 supercross?). Maybe because of the roll cage and the front susp. arms. But indeed it is nice. Wondering what is the price going to be on this one......... somewhere aorund two grand?

No worries Dan!
The standard RTR Nutech servos are ok, but for power and long life I would recommend upgrading to Hitec's.

RE: NUTECH THUNDERBOLT II PRO RACE KIT
Ok had a bit of set back yesterday I received my servos but this Pro kit is designed to have a largescale servo for throttle/brake but I wanted to use a Hitec HS-7955TG std size but 24kg torque @6V. So I had to design and get made a new servo mounting plate to fit into position (see pic's)
As this car is going to be used solely for me racing at our LS tracks here in New Zealand I am also changing things to make it more reliable but up most to handle well, so while waiting for my plate to be made I went through the front end suspension and found there was a bit of bump steering in the steering geometry! Not having much time to make too many new items as the car is to debut this weekend at a special promo racing, I changed the positions of the steering components to eliminate the bump steer the main thing was just flipping over the center track bar! I also fitted grub screws to the C-hubs to tighten up the front end I will also look at fitting bearings into them to eliminate a bit of play in there for the steering knuckles.
Ok a few more pic's

Yep that is the steering servo I am running in my race 5b SS Rhino Digi 4 best large scale servo for land vehicles made. If things work out I will be racing a Thunderbolt 2 shortly. Still in the talking stage.

At the moment the RRP is around USD1300.00 but that could change due to added spec's to production units!

RE: NUTECH THUNDERBOLT II PRO RACE KIT
Had a good day today! Managed to get everything done sorted out the throttle/brake servo but still not 100% satisfied with it will be doing a MK2 model soon! I am not a fan on on/off switches at the best of times so removed the std slide switch and fitted a rubber splash proof rocker switch to see how that performs, I have been using a Lipo 7.4V 2S for awhile now in my other cars so this car also got one also fitted a Outlaw RC direct power servo harness full power is going to the servos!
Finally got to the stage of running and everything working so took it down to local track for a test run, only managed several laps but feels good but yet to do a race set-up on it yet. more tomorrow and hope to get a video of it then!
Here's a teaser

$1300US seems agood price.
What pipe you running there, looks like a 5b dom with silencer
If you're sending 7.4v to the digi4 you might fry it...i run one myself...best servo there is, but there have been reports of them being a bit sensitive to higher voltages which can lead to failure.

The pipe I created from a clone 5B pipe, I didn't want to wreck a real DDM dom pipe to see if it didn't fit at the moment it is just a trial pipe which I am not 100% happy with due to the way I had to modify it to fit, as I have to remove the rollcage to get it on and off! but thats not a big hassle as only 4 screws and 2 locknuts.
I have run my FG and MCD cars with the same lipo 7.4V pack but I was using Hitec 5745MG servos in those and had no problems at all, a 4600Nimh would charge to 7.4V anyway!

I am sorry I need to look better at the pictures with my bad old eyes. [sm=spinnyeyes.gif] I was looking at the first pictures. Nice job on your pipe.
