Hi all,
I am new to heli's but not new to RC. I bought the Honey Bee to learn about heli's before I buy a 3D model such as the Raptor. Before pulling it all out of the box I searched the Internet for training/instructions and I found Raddy's instruction page. Fantastic page! In following his instructions of the 1 foot square ground hover training. I find that I can hold the heli in the one foot square for a long time until I throttle up above half way. This is when I find out I have no forward movement. I can go from side to side and backwards and hold the heading very well. It just will not go forward.
I have checked all the linkage and the flybar does rotate to correctly I think.
Also, when I hand rotate the main gear by hand I see the is a slight wobble and pushes against the motor gear harder at some piont in the rotation. I think the shaft mounting hole on the main gear is off center.
I have seen most of the videos from Radd's page about E-Helis and I see smooth take off and hovering from these small helis. How do I trim and balance my Honey Bee to get the same results?

Something might be wrong with your servo that moves the blades up and down. Check to see if it moves up. Something might be wrong inside your radio too. I had that problem. Try cleaning your radio wires that control the servos. It might be a loose wire in the radio. Your blades hit againsts something slowing them down? Check that too. If you fly too much with that problem the main motor might burn down because of too much force! Check the main drive gear and make sure that all the little "Teeth" on the gear are even. It might be cracked.

Everything checks out OK. I do see a wobble in the main gear as if the center hole is off center. I see all these videos that show trimmed so well that lift off and hovering is almost perfect. This bird I have is all over the place. I want this bird to lift off and hover hands free except for the throttle. Maybe I am asking to much? Or maybe I am asking to much from me.
I can control it on the floor in the one foot square except the forward thing. I can get it to stop the backwards drift. Oh well. Maybe I don't have it trimmed correctly. I wished the guys that have theirs trimmed out so well made a video on how they did it.

The video I was refering to is on my web site.

This bird looks very much like the bird I have.
I wished mine trimed and balanced out like his.

Your E_Sky will hover nicely once you get past your problem. Check the servo. I had 2 (out of 4) E_Sky servos go bad within 2 months. I used to own two E_Skys and they do fly nicely. There are a lot of serious design issues with the E_Sky. They will fly; it's keeping them flying thats the problem.

Hi Guys! I am a newbe here. Just received my esky heli and I am generally happy with it. I use to fly an ECO-8 with limited luck, mostly lack of power, but this heli flies quite nice. Only have a few questions:
1. There is not much instructions on set up, balancing. Any tricks for these micro heli's?
2. I seem to have some interferience, or servo jitters. Anyone else have this problem?
Other than that, it flew pretty much out of the box. I have balanced and checked all controls, some were reversed!!!
Anyone in USA have parts? I an sure I will need a small stock!
Hover On!

Hey! I am a newbie to helis. The only thing ive flown before is the Black Hawk Vectron. I got my E_Sky Honey Bee helicopter from www.rc-expert.com. He supplies parts, and many other helis as well. When i got this heli, the controls were all wrong. i had to change the servos around on the reciever. They must of been set up for a differnt type of remote. Anyways, i want to say this thing is incredably durably. Since my computer wont work with the remote and FMS (flying model simulater), i had to learn to fly this thing on my own with the included training hit (the 4 balls). Crashed it so many times... i cant even count. NOT A THING BROKE. Just today, i was flying it, and i lost control of it (me, being a newbie, only having flied a heli for the first time the day before) and flu it right into a wall.. ouch. Nothing broke. To say the leaste, my jaw hit the ground. [X(]
With your problem with the servos twitching, i have that problem to sometimes. When the motor isnt running, if i get close, i can see the servos twitching back and forth a little bit. I can only assume its interference or a cheap radio system. Also, mine has the same problem as yours with the gear being 'distorted'. With larger gears of that size, you will often find them to be not perfect. My Traxxas E-Maxx, for example, has a large spur gear. The gear is distorted slightly, even a new one i bought from my hobby shop. The only thing i know how to do about this is move the motor a tiny bit from the spur gear. Not a lot, just a hair. I did that with my E_Sky, and man, it got WAY quiter.
I dont dare fly it indoor anytime soon, though. For some reason, when i get it to hover about 5 feet in my living room, the speed control wont let me deaccelerate sometimes. It 'sticks', and this is a big problem, because i only notice this when i lose contol of the model. Then its too late to wait for it to deaccelerate, because it already crashed (like into a wall i mentioned earlier!) [:@]
Anyone know why its doing this?
Also, i've heard the tail motor on mini helicopters go bad after 20 or so battery backs. Is this true?
And if anyone knows where to find parts for this thing in the USA, please speak up!

...is most likely the answer. If not already done so, move the battery all the way forward. Turn flybar perpendicular to heli and lift it off the ground. If tail squats, cg is too far backward and that'll definitely affect the heli's forward flying ability. I have the same esky honey bee and have to mount the battery sideways and almost half way between the front skid supports (use zip tie) to get the right balance.
