I too have an old mfa 500, I have had it about 11/12 years now.
the pictures are in my gallery.
It was standard when i first got it, then i added collective pitch and a bodykit.
Its not as nippy or as glamourous as a raptor and the like but it is a good heli.

Hello Steve, thanks for sharing, everyone, I'm sorry, but I've been really busy, so my chopper is on the back burrner, and the pilot light is off right now, I'm trying to get cought up on some projects, and the never ending honney do list...
so, IF I ever get to it, I'll be wanting to finnish her soon, and get her air born...

Tony 853633,
Sorry for the late reply, I only just saw this link on RunRyder. Your heli is an MFA Hughes 500 not the later Sport 500. It's a much earlier machine from around 1980, I've never seen pics online of one before although my brothers pristine uncrashed example is still in storage at my parents house. The giveaway is that it's full body Hughes 500D (round nose & T tail) not the pointy nosed E model fuz that was available as an option for the MFA Sport 500 (that came standard as a pod 'n' boom layout) It used old style Morley fixed pitch head, tail and transmission parts. We could never get the head to work well as it always chewed out the little rubber teeter blocks and went all wobbly. We eventually changed it to a much nore rigid head based on a fixed pitch Schluter center block and it flew quite well (for an old fashioned fixed pitch machine without a gyro) Incidentaly the kit came with some little black plastic right angle brackets to mount the servos beside the central aluminium keel.
Regards
Andrew

Dear Tony 853633,
Having read all the miss-information on this thread, I've been moved to post exactly the heli you have. I can be accurate on this as I have an identical one that I'm currently restoring. It's a Morley. A very early fixed pitch version, with a nice fibreglass body on a mixed ali and ply chassis. I've not flown mine yet, and am in the process of changing it to collective pitch, but with careful setting up, all Morleys can be made to fly well. I learnt to fly helis on a Morley Bell 47 (collective pitch) some 11 years ago. Spares won't be easy, but with a bit of ingenuity I'm sure you'll get by. Contact me directly, and I may be able to help.
Regards,
Derek
