JR XP 8103H good enouph
I bought a trex 450 xl with the radio and want to learn to fly these birds. After reading allot of things i am wondering if this radio is up to todays standardsor if I would be better off upgrading it. Seems like the new rigs have much better mixing capabilities and maybe it would be worth it
Thanks

It's probably good enough to learn with, you won't be doing any complex mixing while you're learning to hover. The DX7 is probably the most popular radio being bought right now but I say learn with the one you got and wait, the prices on the DX7 will probably drop.

I used to have 2 radios, a 9303 and a 8103. The only reason I sold the 8103 was to purchase the X9303 (2.4) when it became available. There is very few things that I have programmed into the 9303 that my 8103 would not do. Most of those things are not really that important either, the only reason that I have them programmed is because now i can, not because they are necessary.
I agree that 2.4 is the future of RC, but don't let anybody try to convince you that you need to change your radio just based on the transmitted frequency. The DX7 is based on the JR7202 which in turn was based on the 8103. I have not used a DX7, but the programming on the 7202 and the programming on the 8103 are very similar.
