It is nice to visit this web site. I've read the messages here and help me a lot.
I'm a beginner, learning to fly Raptor 30. I need help as I encountered a problem in my last hovering. About 10 minutes floating, the engine stops abruptly. The Raptor fell. After then, it was difficult to start the engine again.
What might be the problem ?¡@What should I do ?
I am happy if you might share your experience.
Regards
Leslie

It sounds like you may have been too lean and the engine over heated and the glow plug burnt out.
One thing about the Raptors is that the OEM fuel line tends to go bad in a hurry in the fuel tank allowing air in and that makes the mixture go lean.
I'd check the line in the tank and replace it and also check the glow plug. Are you sure you have the needle set properly also?
Let us know what you find.

Thanks, Scott. It is nice to hear from you.
I've checked the glow plug. The coils inside has turned black. I've replaced the glow plug with a new one. I will try the heli again during the weekend. Hope it would work.
Scott, I've no idea whether my needle setting was correct. I found little smoke exhausted with some oil. Is it abnormal? I open the needle valve about 2 turns from the closed position. For the mixture metering screw, I forgot how many I've turned, clockwise or counterclockwise. What should I do? Is rich smoke better than little smoke ?¡@

Yep you're probably running it lean... Lots of smoke and oil is good. I'm guessing you have the TT36....I remember mine ran best around 2.5 turns... so you should be in that ball park +/- 1/2 turn.
good luck

Thanks for your reply, HighSierraHelis
I tried to fly my raptor 30 again this morning. I've replaced the glow plug with a new one. it seems that the heli was still unstable. The engine stopped once the glow plug battery was taken out. In addition, it is hard to start the engine. I am wondering if I had done something wong last time. In my previous flight, the enging stopped abrubtly during the hovering. I though it was too lean. So I had turned the metering screw clockwise, perhaps, quit a lot. Do you know how I can reset it ?

clockwise is to lean it, so you probably made it worse, back it out a turn or so, depending on how much you turned it in.
And,on the fuel line, be sure that when you replace it it moves freely from top to bottom of the tank and wont get stuck in the middle or something. I was showing off after replacing mine and the engine died at around 100' inverted, got lucky and saved it, but cant always be so lucky, found out it was too long and wouldnt go to the top of the tank.

I think I had fixed the problem by adjusting the metering screw. I need to partice more.
Once again, thanks all of you!
