I only have a little second had info from flying a friends gas eagle.
1. He had a pull start on it. I did not notice if it had a top start. I am sure it could be made for top start. I pulled all of the pull starts off my helis to save about 1/4 lb.
2. The gas helicopters in general don't fly the same as there glow counter parts. You can feel the extra weight. I have done 3d with the x-cell and intrepid gasser. They both do it well. They were like 11 and 12 lbs. The eagle gasser I flew was way more than 11 lbs.
3.It was probably 13-14 lbs. (just a guess)
4. Can't say about the eagle. Gassers are great helis. The eagle I saw looked like it was very high quality. It could also be a great heli.
5. They crash very hard. The weight takes a little getting used to. Adjusting the engine is tough at first. Once you get it broken in and figured out. Just adjust and leave it alone. Maybe adjust it twice a year or so.

I do not have any time with an Eagle, but I do have a Z230.
1. They are heavy, the Z230 come in at a little over 12lbs.
2. They "Feel" heavy when you fly them, it is hard to describe, but you do notice it.
3. The engine is a little different to get right. You need to follow Bill Meadors setup instructions to the letter. He knows what he is doing, and once done correctly it will run great. I have compiled a lot of infor on engine setup on my web site
Z230 Info
It shows how I went with Bills setup on my gasser.
4. I have only about 4 gallons through mine so it is still breaking in and the engine is still developing more power as I go.
5. Runs on pump gas which is really really cheap compared to the glo fuel
6. The Z230 is almost exactly like the Sport 60 which I have flow for several years, they share alomost 95% of the same parts, the Z230 is wider, and uses bearings in every control. But it has not yet flow like my Sport 60 with the YS61ST2 in it. The sport 60 is just quicker. the top speed seems to be almost the same, but the Z230 take a little longer to get there. It carries its weight pretty well, and could benifit from longer blades.
7. The sound of the engine is quite different. they do not scream such high rpm's like the glow ones do, so it takes a little getting used to hearing such a low engine and rotor rpm while flying.
8. As far as I have seen they are all pull start. Which is pretty nice. No field equipment needed besides the fuel. No glow starter, no starter,no start shafts. Just gas and pull. Mine starts on the second pull almost every time, even with no choke.
I do like my Z230, but I am just taking it realy slow right now. I have not done any loops yet. Just basic circuits and some stall turns so far. I am following Bill's advice and taking it slow to let the engine break in properly.
I have seen a nice pipe for the Z230 that I may switch to in the future for more power. The gassers in my opinion are perfect for a scale fuse.

Itīs a great heli but the engine is a piece of shi... Difficult to get the best carb.setting and the fan is not balanced. This engine was not at the same level of the rest of the heli. I made little modifications over it to fit a new Zenoah RC230 into instead the horrible Tanaka unit. Thatīs like day and night. I use it as camera ship so I cannot talk you first hand about aerobatic perfomances. A friend do the same way as me but for 3D use and playing with a governor runs the unit at 1700 rpm with the 97/12 gear relation and he told me itīs awesome.
BTW with a gasser you can use the main magnets to use the governor instead of the spare magnets.
Difficult imo to make a top start conversion and as soon as you make your first flight with a gasser will enjoy to let all the flying box at home.

An expert friend of mine said flying a gasser is like "flying a truck". But I still don't get a clear idea of how well gassers do aerobatics. I mean, there are people who said they do it well and then there are people who said they can do aerobatics. By the way, which is the top speed for most gassers?
Do you guys use premium gasoline? Heck, why not...it's already about 10 times cheaper than nitro...
Do you need a fuel pump to get the gasoline into the fuel tank?

JR39194,
If you are interested in gassers, you should probably also consider the Fury gasser, which will be out next "April or May" according to MinAir. I emailed them about it and they said it's based on the Fury mechanics and therefore have very low parts count and also lighter than the existing X Cell gasser. I bet it'll be cheaper than the Eagle GS.
I don't know if the Eagle GS will offer you good parts avaliability since Japanese companys like to obsolete their products and force people to buy new ones.
Just some thoughts...
