Why do drugs when you can fly heli's? I love it when I temporarily lose a signal when flying my heli. It's like adrenaline in a can. An instant shot of 9 emotions in less than 1 second.

I agree with the why do drugs totally. But the lose signal? You are crazy man, I have had the opportunity to experience that shot of 9 emotions in 1 second but unfortunatly was not able to enjoy it that much as the heli crashed. Not due to signal loss but servo loss. I will stick to the conventional stuff for now. PS how do you get it right to lose your signal, out of range or radio problems?

Just a fluke i guess, when i'm workin on it at home, i get servo twitches everyonce in awhile. And when I fly, i'm usually across the street in a small field.
I tend to fly and hover really hi.. it gives me more time to recover from twitches and my own dumb user controlled errors. I had the same problem with a micro heli i use to own. It was alot worse cuz of it's small size. I'd have to blame it on residential electronics. I dont have this problem when in a big open field.

I practice on the sim by closing my eyes and full sticking in random directions. Open my eyes about 2 or 3 seconds later and recover from whatever orientation i'm in.

I just bought a deans antenna, i'll install it if it gets any worse.

Hey thanks for the idea about closing your eyes on the sim, never thought of that, and am going to give it a try. Can only be good for my skills which are rather lacking right now. How does one overcome the fear of nose hover with the real Heli. I can do it on the sim but am to scared to try it on the real Heli. Hit brain fade too easy on the real thing.

One very very important lesson i've learned is precision.. you dont need it. You can fly soooo much better if you dont try to control it within a certain tolerance. It is a demand you set onto yourself that's not required.

When I first started.. I wanted it dead still, like a statue. Now i let it sway and i control the sticks in a very "lazy way" If you're hovering nose in, and it wants to float away from you. Youre not obligated to IMMEDIATELY compensate for that movement. Let' it go and adjust when you're ready.

Another key is to set your dual rates at about 50% while you're learning. You will see a huge difference.

I will definatley give that a try. Since I am new to this ( I can hover well and do forward flight and figure 8, just a bit difficult to hover sideways and nose in too ) I am only understanding the pitch, throttle curve now. Maybe you could be so kind as to explain the dual rates to me, I have not got my head around that one yet. I have mine set D/R 80% and EXP 50%. Radio = JRPCM9x. Thanx.

dual rate is the rate your servo moves in relation to your stick movememt.

100% dual rate = full stick = full servo travel
50% dual rate = full stick = only half servo travel.

On the sim, set your dual rates to something like 30% or 40%, you will notice how your helis moves very softly. Now try again at 100%, your heli will jerk around, very strong abrupt movements. At 100%, your heli will probably move too too far in any direction when you give it input. At 50%, it's easier to make it hover dead still.

I"ve never mess with my expos, dual rates serve me well

Thanks for that, makes sense. I assume the EXP is an abbreviation for exponential. Man this hobby is a learning curve. But that is what makes it so good, when you finally start to understand the thing. Helps you fly better too.
