XCELL 60ST - Clutch problems

My Feedback: (94)
I got a used Xcell .60 ST and had to change the clutch lining. My problem is (other than the lining costing $25) is that it is too big. I can't slide the clutch shoe into the bell with the lining in. I haven't glued the lining in, that should make the fit even tighter. What options do I have? I suppose I could grind some of the liner away to make the shoe fit, but how do I grind it down evenly. Furthermore, how much of the lining is there until you hit the metal part? Any other suggestions?

It's a common surprise to find it doesn't fit.
The big thing about MA clutches is that if you don't hot start them they will out last anything on the market (maybe bar a heim clutch)
The fit of the shoes-to-liner is very critical. All the problems with the Raptor clutch come from the larger than ideal gap between shoe and liner. Plus the lining material is about as tough as toffee.
The MA liner is expensive, but it's quality and I have managed seven years flying on one liner/clutch.
The liner is overly thick to allow you to machine it to fit. Glue it in first, then machine it-This stops excessive glue build up leaving a high spot.
Ideally you should take your clutch unit to a machine shop and get the liner trued and sized to suit your clutch. If the shoes have been overly stretched then it should be changed now.
