Upgrade to a new heli. Most of the current 30 size helis will be a great improvement over your nexus. I have a Hawk Sport and a Caliber 30. Both are much better than the Nexus. It's not fair to even compare them. The venture and raptor are also very good. Any of the four I have mentioned will serve you well. The Hawk sport is probably the least expensive and the Caliber the most expensive. Both in initial cost and crash repair costs. I would get whichever you can get parts for the easiest.

The problem with Kyosho is the price of the Zeal upgrades, very high! They are great quality though.
If interested I have a highly upgraded and great flying Nexus 46. It is very fast, I use it mainly for drag racing, and it beats most all 60 size heli's. Email me for info if interested.
You can see pics here:

I am selling it cause I have 5 heli's and want to stick to 60 size only.
It's a great flying heli, the full flapping head is aerobatic yet very stable , especially in gusty conditions.

I drove a Nexus Deluxe for 2 1/2 years and I would recommend you replace it with a Caliber 30. A much more refined heli. The amount you spend on upgrade parts only covers some of the needed enhancements to make a Nexus on par with the current crop of 30's. I spent a lot of time and effort making my Nexus a good performer. It needs some custom parts to stiffen the frame and make the collective pitch arm solid. The flapping head is a great design as long as the head is spinning at 1900 RPM's. I would go so far as installing a sticker on the canopy of the Nexus that says "Warning DO NOT AUTO". With the flapping head design boom strikes on any slightly bad auto are common.

Don't ignore basmntdweller's answer (the first one you got). The Hawk Sport is a great little 3D trainer. It is inexpensive to buy, inexpensive to repair, easy to build and flies very well.

Check with the people you may fly with and see what they fly. See what parts are easy to get. If your local club has a majority of any one kind, sometimes, if you follow their lead you will be able to get good help or advise. Where I live the LHS only carry venture parts. Either way any of the new 30 size helis will be a big improvement over the nexus.

My vote goes to the Quick 30......
$259 and you get a G-10 composite framed all aluminum machined heli that needs NO upgrades....
...smooth, 3D's with the best of them...CCPM and looks like a million dollars
(everyone will think it costs $800+ when they see it)
