whats the difference between semetrical blades and flat bottom blades? I've figured out the flat bottom blades seem more stabile(at lease I think so) but what else are the differences when in flight. there on a Blade CP pro if that makes a difference.

Flat bottom blades are generally more stable. Symmetrical blades allow you to go inverted and utilize the negative pitch feature of the Pro.
The flat bottom blades create a low pressure above the airfoil. This allows the 'wing' to generate lift, and go up. Using these blades while in negative pitch wouldn't work because the heli would just want to go down(if you were inverted). Symmetrical blades will create lift in both positive and negative pitches. This airfoil is what all the aerobatic aircraft(Extra 300) and I believe fighter planes use- that way they can climb while inverted.
Hope this helps!

thanks good to know!!! for now I'll be running the flat bottoms until I get basic flight control down and hovering. when I'm ready to try aerobatics I'll switch.

I'm going to see if my LHS has them, the wooden blades are way to fragile.~ strike that~ I just called, and they don't carry them
looks like it's time to search the forum for someone who does. any suggestions? I'm going to run down and buy a couple sets of wood ones but unless some how it comes quickly to me I'm sure I'll burn through a few sets of blades quickly before I get it down!!! also what are good aftermarket landing gear choices the stock gear seems pretty fragile also.

The plasti blades have some good things about them, and some bad.
Good: I got into probably half a dozen crashes while I was learning with the Pro and the plasti blades. These things are virtually indestructible. The blades stayed intact, but other parts of the heli took a hit.
Bad: The main shaft would bend, and the feathering shaft would most certainly bend. Sometimes the blades would strike the boom, and go right through both the boom and the wires for the rudder motor. It all depends on what you want. Woodies you can usually just slap on a new pair, and then you are up again. The plasti ones though will require you to replace several things.
Your choice though. Sorry, no recommendations on the landing gear- they are real crap. I switched helis before I made too big of a commitment.
Later!
