Default Tail wobble

I just set up my first heli and am very happy to say it seemed to be right on the money. I do have a slight problem though with the gyro. With stick at center or moved to left everything is fine but when moved to the right the tail starts wobbling until stick is moved back to center. The gyro is a Futaba GY401 with digital servo and heli is a Raptor. All the linkages and belt are tight. Also it is pretty sensitive to the left but is sluggish to the right. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jeff

check to see that when the chopper tail is stationary that the servo control arm is in the center of its throw and parallel to the coresponding arm on the tail...

what could be happening is that the controls are binding when the stick is moved right.

make sure that the servo and all linkages are moving freely.

also like everyone says here see of you can find an expirienced pilot to help go over your machine.

hope this helps

Linkages are free and parallel like you mentioned. It's set up with a boom mount servo with carbon pushrod. I wish I had someone local to look over it for me and help me but the closest person is about 100 miles away. If I have to I'll make the drive but would rather not. I think I'm going to do alright flying it. First flight consisted of several 20 second hovers in a 10 to 15mph wind. I've just got to get this one little problem solved. Thanks

Are your ATV's on the rudder set the same for both left and right should be around 80% both ways to start with. you will probably end up at 120% to get the best response.

You might want to move the servo ball in one notch (if you are on the very out side one) Your gyro sensitivity sould be at about 70-ish.

Still looking for any suggestions guys. Any time I give it any right rudder it starts jerking back and forth real fast then everything statrs shaking, mostly the training gear. I have done the above ideas with no luck. Is it possible something may be bent in the tail rotor?

Have you looked at the servo while the engine is at idle or not running and giving it right stick input?

Yep, everything works normal till everything gets up to speed and the gyro starts working. Its like the gyro is trying to fight me but I can't figure out why it would only do it to the right. I just took it out of another heli which it was working great in.

I hate to ask this, but are the tail blades installed in the right direction? Are they rotating in the right direction? They may seem like stupid or obvious questions, but with the problem you are having, it is time to start from the beginning and work forward....checking every little thing. Was there another gyro in this heli previously and if so, how did it fly?

Has anybody thought that maybe he has a bad gear in the servo?? I had a plank that would do that and after iI went through everything I took the servo apart and there was a tooth missing on a gear so it couldnt find the stop spot at full deflection

Blades are installed correctly. I bought the heli used so I don't know what gyro it had in it. I took the gyro that is in it now out of my new heli that I had only test flew. The gyro and servo are new and have not been crashed or abused and it worked fine in the other heli. I don't really know what to do. I guess I'll just make the drive and have somebody look at it for me.

Have some one look into to it for you.
That is a very good idea.

Default training gear..

I had a serious wobble with training gear on my bird. threw em out and put a hula hoop on with 1/2" hardwood dowels for cross pieces, 2 across the skids <front & rear> and one down the centerline. the wobble went away.
Bottom line, training gear will feed back into gyro and wobble like mad if not VERY stiff.
If you have sticks with balls on the end, try shortening them up by a third.
