The perp shot him then closed the door with it locked. He used a small caliber weapon so that it did not have enough energy to break the windows or make a bullet hole after passing through the victims head (i.e. the bullet barely passed through then fell on the seat or floor)

Sorry if this wasn't "humourous", but I almost find it humourous (in a sad sort of way) that there is even a question about it.
