Its a Green scheme, with green switched to red. I also have a Green scheme with the blue switched to red.

What gear set up are you using? There were three UF maiden flights this weekend in the UK and all had perfect gear operation. Five now flying here with three more being built.

Rob Westwater's UF on it's maiden yesterday

Been thinking about an ultra flash but really didn't like the schemes. Really like this one(post 431)! How does it show up in the air? Got any more pics of top? Is it just a color swap? Looks like there is possibly a little more to it than a simple swap.

This is the color i have had and flown. It is clearly the most visible color scheme yet. I wish this would be a standard color, as it is seen so oftain. Its so similar to Shulmans Ultra Lightning, but with a checkered bottom, instead of the Blue and red bottom of the UL. I like the color, i really like its visibility. I have the UL in same color, hope to maiden it this week.

My kit didnt come with pins, so i had to make them up with ground rod from McMaster Carr. Maybe Andy will send me some. I might have mentioned we have PetroMat with some rough ground under the mat. And i have probably done ten touch and goes per flight (now 77 flights). Maybe 770 landings and one bent pin might be allowed? If not i am in awe of your unbent pins Dave.

There are more shots on the First JMA meet of the year thread. It's not a colour swap. Looking where you are, I would not recommend it. The black is bad for sunny hot places! the surface gets really hot and all the structure will come through over time. You would have to keep it covered any time I was not been air cooled!! Even for the UK we are looking at having some covers made.

Regards

Dave

Howard, it's basically the same thing as the shulman scheme. There are lots of pictures on RCU.

Yes, the model is here now, things have been busier here the last week or so. I'm catching up, once the DerJet Vampire is off my bench in the next week, I will build the P-80SE UF. Should only take a week I'm ordering in parts and radio stuff during this week and will get to it!

I have read through alot of these threads and haven't got a clear picture of the Flash vs Ultra Flash flight characteristics ( knife edge coupling, speed, rough air penitration.)
I'll be using a 30lb thrust turbine.

i had a classic flash with 120sx. very nice to fly and easy to land.. they recomend as a first jet.. i havent flown the ultra yet... bigger wing and better cg posistion.. should land very easy... after all thats the most important thing about jets..you will like the 120sx for power..very fast..

The UF has less drag, more area, no tip tank drag and thinner wing tips. It's faster, slightly sharper on controls, starts and stops quicker in the roll. Both models knife edge well, the UF normally comes out a little lighter, so KE needs less rudder. Both models have a small couple at certain speeds of KE, but very small and balanced on the sticks. Once you find the sweet spot speed it is very balanced in KE

We don't find the classic hard to land, but those that do/did the UF is a different animal, very easy to land, very stable under flap.
None...

I'm pleased with my bags, they're very 'Flash'

Dave - what is that green and red scheme all about, it'll certainly be unquie - I by far prefer the 'mistake' scheme you have in stock, although I'm sure it'll be sold now as it's very nice...................
