RE: The Aermacchi MB339 is here agian
I stuffed all three of my batteries (3 2500 Mah Lipo) up front, as well as 63 pellets from 12 ga 00 buck shot (7 shells) shell wrapped in a pillow type bag. I also have my smart fly power box and regulator up front above the main retract. An additional 10 25gr hobby weights were needed.
I could have probably saved a few hobby weights if I would have used a heavier main wheel than the ones supplied with the retracts.
Hope this helps!!!

RE: The Aermacchi MB339 is here agian
OK GUys....I have done much work on the 339. What I have found is that the wood formers that WERE installed are complete crap. Garbage. PERIOD. The motor mount was so crooked that I removed it and the to "formers" it was "glued" too...I use formers and glued loosely.
I have made new 1/4 ply formers and motor mounts and will be permently installing them tonight/tomorrow with hysol. The old formers were so bad and the fit was worse. I guess fill the gaps with epoxy is how we do it at the factory these days. Anyway, my rebuild is 100% better to say the very least.
As far as the wing goes, I am still interested in seeing what you may have done but if it involves bolts from the front, lets just say I am not going to use that solution. I have 1/2 carbon dowels that will make the front pins and it will bolt on in the back.
I have already rebuilt the front bulkhead where the wing will mount and I can assure you that the wing will stay in place when I am done.
I knew I should not have expected much from a 800 dollar kit...yet I am still surprised.
One positive note, the gel-coat looks good and she shold be ready for paint fairly quickly.
Pictures to follow.....

21.75 lbs uat empty
Alberto said that the weight i have is in the normal range.
Completed weight should be around 23-24 lbs.

After what i saw and experienced today, and if the build is carefully done, this plane is definitely well worth it. I have no issues with the formers. Just reinforce the wing former and the wing will not break.

I agree with Dave the Gelcoat and for me the paint is pretty good, the inside woodwork and gluing is beyond poor, especially for something that is going to have $3000-$4000 worth of equiptment inside it.
But we will push forward

As promised... here is the video of todays flight. Unfortunately the front landing gear is real weak and landed a bit fast and broke of the front leg. Should be fixed/relplaced with an aluminum strut from Prolink.

Sal-Good flying and nice looking jet but ya gotta slow them boys down a little before you land. Ha. I'm surprised the front gear stayed on after the first bounce. You flew well and congrats on a nice jet. What turbine are you flying in it?? Thanks for the Vids.

Well guys i did the Maiden today and I'm very pleased with the airplane, This is my first what i call full fuse Jet, and she is a keeper!
Luis I cant believe what i just seen in the Video!! the same exact thing happened to me today on the Landing its hard to believe but i got it all on video!, came in way to fast and made a first smooth touch then she started bouncing and broke the front Strut in half. one of the major factor was a slight tail wind and the other was i had 10% down elevator mixed in with the flaps and it really does not need it like you said, it was a handful with the full flaps in she wanted to pitch down more than i liked, so i removed the mixing and the next flight would be with no FLP>ELE mixing at all. I'm going to upload the unedited video, you guys can see the field was not near flying conditions but i had to do it the first attempt at take off was aborted when the plane went off the right and in to the tall grass.

Kenric,
Will try and fit a pro link strut in front while I have this one made with an aluminum strut.
Will post pics of the fixed strut when finished and also of the damaged strut.
This jet doesn't need mixing with the flaps and elevator.
What I do recommend is for all turbines to use a fod screen. It can suck a lot of
Debris into the turbine causing a lot of damage.
Can't wait for the video!

Luis,
sounds good, a Friend of mine that had a MB339 had the same problem with the Strut and another friend of ours works a CNC machine and made the same exact piece out of good grade aluminum. He still has this strut and told me i could have it until i get one made. I tried my Boomerang Sprint ProLink strut and it almost fit but the pin is about 1/4" short for set screw. but i should have the other one tomorrow and it would be ready for some more flights.
I'm running a FOD for sure! I wouldn't even start on a bench with out a FOD Screen

Prolink Struts from Dreamworks are a perfect match for the MB339. 141/145mm will work. I swapped mine from my Boomerang Nano for a test fit and just milled out the axle hole and it worked perfectly. Changed the front wheel and tire to a more solid one instead of the original provided with the Eurokit struts. Hope all is working out great to all!!!
This plane is truly a rewarding aircraft... Gentle, quick, manuverable when needed and a solid performer all the way around!!!
Here is a link to my landing with the new strut and wheel...

Best of luck to all!!!

I thought Id like to share an imags of my 339 in flight. Front strut has been replaced by a spare prolink strut from dreamworks as a temporary fix while I install the front strut from behotec (altecare)... So far so good. 3 more flights on it and the strut just wont budge...

This is what the final approach before landing looked like this morning... watch out for the tree... Thankfully just missed the branches by not more than a foot... Video should be up shortly in YT and will post link asap.
Hope every one had an incredible Xmas!!!

Just checked the video out and at the very end, when passing by the trees I believe you can here the leaves brush against the MB339... Front landing gear didnt lock all the way and so it gave in on the landing... No damage at all. As you say, I was cutting it to close for comfort!!!
Will post link as soon as the video is finished uploading...
