Just wanted to show the progress on the 339s that are being built by my close friend and jet master Larry Z.

Three images...

Custom cockpit (handmade seat) and pilot
Spar sandwiched with CF
Spaghetti of wires before being cleaned up and arranged accordingly

Here are a few more images from the build. As you can see the use of Carbon Kevlar cloth reinforcing the wing spar, as well as the use of NACA inlets.

Hope this helps all building the 339...

Final stages of completion but would really appreciate if someone could help me out with the following:

What is a good basis weight for the 339 with full UAT?

How have you strapped the fuel tank so that it doesnt rotate inside the fuse and on the formers?

How has the UAT been installed and held in place in the fuse?

If there are any images please post!!!

Thanks,

Luis

Luis this is how I secured my tank, Just a small 90* aluminum angle Hysol on the tank and screwed with a servo screw to the former. and the UAT is strapped to the wheel well.

First of all to answer your question Baldeagle, they wing did not come off clean from what I see it was ripped off the airplane along with the whole center section of the wing. I dont work for the NTSB nor do I say I do but the airplane wing was assembled very wrong. Not becuase of lack of instructions but becuase of lack of common sense. Who ever has bult jet kits before and this is a kit not your off the shelf bind and fly model, knows that things need to be built from experience. If he had questions he should have called me. Nobody here except for Kenric or Luis tona has ever picked up the phone or sent me an email asking for help.

And as for me not helping Zee it's becuase of his demanding and harsh attitude through several emails we sent to each other before I even posted anything. Im sorry to tell you but nobody tells me what to do or demand me to do anything. I am no longer in the military and he is not my commanding officer to order me to do anything. For the people on RCU that have delt with me know I will bend over backwards to help somebody. I had a guy in Central America destroy a Tornado becuase he pulled to many G's on a outside loop while full power with a K80. We discussed it he sent me pictures and we agreed it was a mistake he did not the aircraft. I then gave him a new aircraft with struts wheels and brakes, servo's and then I contacted King Tech and asked Barry if he could help this guy out. Barry as well helped and we both gave him an engine way below factory cost and assumed the difference in cost. The difference is that he did not demand me to do it and tell me it would be bad for my buisness if I dont fix this form him like Zee did.

Everybody is quick to blame to the manufacturer for everyhting when an accident happens and any body who is in aviation can tell you Pilot error is the number one cause for accidents. In this case assembly error. And dont blame the instructions, before this batch of planes Modellbau sold over 300 MB 339's since the kit came out and nobody complained or had problems building it. The problem is that everybody now wants a kit to practically fly by its self out of the box. I have contimplaited several time to stop RC production becuase of the attitutde of some of you guys that are loyal to other manufacturers or other hobby shops that I have caused large sales decreases to becuase of my products and how in expensive I am selling them. It will not change if I have to sell Tornado's for $399 and F86D for $599 I can care less how that effects these people. Some how they will learn that a Turbine does not need to be marked up 300% and gouge the customer to make money.
Working in the aviation field for 23 years, it is actually system breakdown that causes most airplane incidents/accidents....not pilot error. Pilot error is a throwback to before the Canadian Air Tahoma Convair 580 crash in 2007 or 2008. This Convair crash was the first in-depth and deeply studied crash in aviation histoy. It found a breakdwon in several systems, right up thru management, that lead to the crash. It involved everyone from maintenance up thru the pilots and higher (gotta meet schedule). I just don't want our full scale pilot friends blamed unjustly[8D]

OK, now that all this ugly mess is behind us (I have been avoiding this thread) lets move forward.

Today I started on my MB339 build. I am making several changes to the basic airframe to get it to a level I am comfortable with. What I would like to know is have we figured out the PROPER way to mount the wing and would anyone have pictures of this mounting system?

TIA...

Maiden flight has been done!!! Flight went on without a problem... everything worked perfectly except for a small issue with the brake fitting that was quickly fixed on the field.

I have to say that this jet is an incredible flyer. Handles the wind with ease, and lands a bit hotter than a regular sport trainer jet.

Will post pictures soon.

Thank you Alberto and Henry for an incredible airplane!!!

Unfortunately no video... If weather permits Sunday should be full of excitement!!! Flew the MB339 with 30-40 mph gusts of wind and it handled it quite well.

InboundLZ,

Both Larry and I have mounted the wing using the halfmoon wood block as well as using wooden dowels to prevent rotation on the wing. We then proceeded by using steel bolts to screw the wing in place using blind nuts mounted on a solid piece of plywood. Look at the pictures in the gallery of the forum and I am sure that this issue will be solved. At the same time, the wing former has been reinforced using carbon kevlar sheeting.

Hope this helps.

Luis

What did you need to do for balance, mine seems to be extremely tail heavy, I still have a few thing to add but not much
