Default Y-Cable, longer or shorter?

I am setting up my electronics (finally) on my A-4 build and need to reverse Y-cable connect two pairs of servos (flaps and elevator)to my Smartfly Expander Pro. I am doing this because one servo goes up and the other goesdown when two servos are plugged into the same port on the Smartfly. From a reliability aspect, does it make a difference to have the Y-connector shorter ora longer distance from the Smartfly? That is, should I use a short Y-cable with long servo leads or long Y-cable with short servo leads? The servos are a good 40" from the receiver. I'd much prefer to use mixing with individual channels, but am maxed out on channels with my DX7. This may be a non-issue, but I want to be sure I'm not negating the benefits the Smartfly offers. Also, any other recommendations are always appreciated.

Thanks!

I would try my best to stay away from reverse Y connectors. I have had nothing but problems with them.

I agree with Billy, don't use a reversing y. Buy some reversed servos if you can't program the ones you have.

Reversing y's do not work very well. I have watched them change center with tempature or even just turning the receiver on and off will change them. I personally try to avoid them whenever possible

Get a matchbox rather than a reversed y, I think.....

What everyone else said about the reversing part, the reversing Ys are bad news.
Depending on which servos you have, It may be easy to reverse them yourself and not need the reversing Y.

As for the rest of the question, The Y should be as close to the RX as possible and run two long servo leads.

Have you looked into systems that can combine retract and brake to a single channel to free up a channel to allow the mixed elevator function?

Thanks for all the help, really glad I asked. I hadn't thought of the servo programmer (or matchbox), and my elevator servos are programmable so I'll be ordering one today. I'll also change out my flap servos to programmable ones, don't want to risk a plane like this on something as simple asa Y-cable.

Jeff - I already combined the brake/retract on to the 3-way switch (up, down, down with brake), great minds must think alike!!!

If everything comes in on time, maybe just maybe a maiden this weekend...

Why can't you simply use 2 channels for flaps and 2 channels for elevators and then reverse as needed from the tx?<div>

If I remember correctly Spektrum do not recommend using a Y lead or reverse's with their equipment.

You might want to consider one of these.
