RE: Futura 2.5M in BMW Williams scheme
PMSL that's funny. For it to be your design Greg, you would of had to pay for me doing it. As you haven't paid me for the hours I spent designing the scheme then the artwork still belongs to me, to do with as I see fit. The design has also changed a fair bit since the first rough layouts you saw, including the canopy which is a shape Ali and myself came up with for his new 1.9m Futura ( sorry Al i pinched it for Carstens )
Many thanks
Duncan

Mmmm. You sent an email with a image of a Formula one car. From there Duncan and I worked to adapt it to suit the Futura shape. I cant see how this is stealing?

RE: Futura 2.5M in BMW Williams scheme
Hi all !
Well, below these property enquiry, I have another question about the vinyl finish of the Futura, big or small one : How do you do with the mold joint traces ?
On mine, even this joint is the best I've ever seen on a molded plane of this size, the carbon under coat put a cleary visible black line all over the joint (but the nose as front parts have no carbon inside). This is for all part containing carbon, that is nearly all the plane... []
We can't see that on the differents photos we can see on RCU. So are you OK with thoses black line on the joint or are you doing something before vinyl to make them diseapear ???
My big Futura will be partly painted (canopy and upper fuselage side) and partly vinyl with white basis scheme...
My question is even more interresting as I can't understand how you've done with the rudder apex on first Ali's Futura without doing white painting on the rudder after trimming !!!
Does the secret is lost on the London's fog ?

RE: Futura 2.5M in BMW Williams scheme
This is the first Futura I have done that hasn't been built before arriving with me. Ali's first Futura has the rudder fairings painted before I applied the vinyl, Carsten's will be painted afterwards, but shouldn't be a problem.
The seam lines on these Tomohawk models are some of the best I've seen, the small Futura is better than the big one, but I think that is because the mould is fresher. I've not really noticed the seams whith some of the previous futures I've done, but they could of been sanded before I was given them. This one has a few bumpy seams, but I have sanded the worst offenders before putting the vinyl over the top. I also had to fill a couple of small flaws in the gelcoat, where it was hollow underneath. It was just a couple and fairly small though.
No London fog here, I live in the middle of England
Hope that helps

I took it out of service due to a bad case of Kero rash... though it's almost dried out now.

More pictures from Duncan of my Futura, not bad (in fact, I think it is so nice that I might not even fly it)
Hopefully it should ship back to me friday, can't wait to get my hands on it [8D]

BTW Carsten, I need to thank you for supplying me a spare aileron cover LOL. I'm sure a replacement will turn up before you need it.
Cheers,
Mark

RE: Futura 2.5M in BMW Williams scheme
I took care of it, and sourced one from Thomas. He sent it to me , and I had it delivered to Duncan a few days ago.
I am very impressed with how your Futura came out by the way.. If it were mine, I would be tempted not to bother putting the rudder fairing on it!
Regards Al

Funny you mention the fairing, I have just been emailing with Duncan about the same! I'll see when it arrives, but it sure looks nice without it.

RE: Futura 2.5M in BMW Williams scheme
Ali thanks for all your help on this one, i'm really proud of it.
You must of read Carstens mind, as we were just discussing whether it need the fairing or not. I included the vinyl shapes to go on the fairing, should it end up being fitted. They are cut to carry on the lines from the fuselage.
cheers
Duncan

+1 on the no fin fairing - for some reason that scheme just suits not having it.
