Does Captain Sandor like sailors and seamen then?

Carsten, the invite is still there for Bickley Jets (baby will be 3months old by then [8D] )

Ahh, the "captain" story bring images into my brain I don't like
Thanks for the invite Mark, I might even take you up on it !
(PS: congrats on the "mini Mark" again, enjoy it, soon they are flown from the nest, just dropped my oldest son off at the airport again, he was visiting for a few days, and now he is going back to his apartment in Barcelona )

Thanks Jeremy
I also think this is the nicest one, but I'm maybe a little biased
But, no doubt in my mind, these "vinyl dressed Futura's" that Duncan and the "gang" are coming up with, looks all very nice, I'm soo impressed with the quality of the work Duncan has done to this plane!!

One of my friends did shoot some video with my *****ty pocket camera in video mode, there was not much useable video from the flight, BUT, there were some questions if the distinct "howl" from the Futura would be present even if one is not mounting the inlet channels, judge for yourself (around 0:58)
Now, before anyone jumps on me, yes, the video is bad, yes, you don't see much flying, and yes, the camera has zoom, but it does not work while recording.
At least, there is only the "raw sound" no music

Hi Carsten

I really enjoy working on our toys and compliments like that make it all worthwhile. I loved the end result of your Futura, it will soon be time to replicate the scheme on a 1.9

Thanks

Duncan

Hey Carsten,

Great looking plane!!!! awsome sound too. Looking at the pictures are those the stock gear polished out or did you put something different in. How do you like the preformace with the 200? I'm getting a kit with the vectored trust and would also be putting a 200 in it you feel that the plane has enough thrust to hover and then pull out or is it such a big bird that that wouldn't be possible?

Thanks for the nice words
The gear is like this from Tomahawk, I've done nothing than put 6 screws in each retract!
The P200 is very nice, I have only a couple flights on the setup so far, but I would not say that it is overpowered, a P160 would surely also fly it without problems, but I like to have the extra "umpfff" to get me out of trouble
I think you need to get one of the more experienced pilots to comment on the "hover ability" of the Futura, maybe Ali is listening too here ?

I'm not a master of 3D with jet, but with my experience of propelled 3D, I should say that the Futura seems to me not to have the right design for 3D. It's a pattern plane, a F3A pattern plane with great moment arms.

All 3D jet plane sI've seen in demo are more those compact delta jets like Eurosport. Why ? Because the suction on the aileron caused by the turbine exhaust give positive control even in rool + vector for pitch and yaw. For me, aileron of Futura will be out of this suction effect or with minor effectivity. Futura will hower, that's not a problem, but with minimal control on rool, and that's not good...

My 2c...

I would have to agree that the the surfaces will be out of the suction effect of the turbine. Its going to be an expierment might work and maybe not but it will be fun trying and even if it doesn't will have an awesome flying jet that will still be a show stopper. Is anyone cutting graphics in the US for the futura so as to have the template. Any other tricks to the assembly of this plane like the idea of the rudder mod. Thanks for any help jets are new to me so any input is appreciated.

Mine is 22 Kg including fuel (and a heavy equipment board, the wood alone (big) weights 450 gram )
There is a building thread on our Danish Jetforum: http://www.jetdanmark.dk/e107_plugin...topic.php?6811
you probably wont make much of the text there, but there are some pictures that you could look at, and maybe get some ideas from
Flight time, hmmm, good question, the first couple of flights I landed after 7/8 minutes, and still had plenty of fuel left

Congrats Fritz, your Futura looks great. The Audi scheme is one of my favourites, the colours work so well together. I'm just finishing a second one with the same scheme for a customer. We should have some photos of it next week

Is that Audi scheme in vinyl? Don't know how you guys do it. I just end of with loads of small bubbles on all my efforts. You going to Bickley next weekend Duncan? Wouldn't mind some pointers on how to do it to get a good sharp finish.

Was out flying the Futura yesterday. I found a small leak in the fueltank!

The plane was with me in France (at approx 600M ASL), and when I came home, the tank was "collapsed" because of the pressure difference (I'm at 70M ASL) as the overflow tube was closed. When I opended the overflow, the tank "popped out" again, and I guessed/hoped it was ok....
Well, it turns out it was not ! I discovered a small crack in the tank yesterday, fuel would creep out of it when fueling. I could easily close the crack with some thin CA, and so far seems to hold op nicely.

Bottom line, the fueltank is very thin (to save weight), but one must be very carefull with it

Couple of pictures from yesterday

Carsten - I've the same peoblem with my fuel tank, so I reinforced it with two lays of carbon roving like you can see on pic below.

A carbon tank ? Wow ! That's luxury...

Carsten, thank for the news about the tank. Seem's better to transport the plane with overflow tube open, so need the tank is empty when living the field. Sorry for the kero smell...

Difference of temperature should have the same effect : 35°C or 40°C on the field and tarmac, but 20°C is the climatised car + difference of altitude... [:'(]

The problem exist with all those rigid tanks.
