Default EV5U Valve Programming Help!

Please. Dear God, please. If you have experience programming one of these can you help a brother out? The instructions might as well have been written in 3rd century Germanian. I'm desperately trying to understand even the most rudimentary programming like how in the world do you program the sequencing of the valves in Mode 4? ANY help or insight would be appreciated. I'd pay good money for a set of instructions written in actual English.

Which valve is it exactly? Airpower EV5U / EV5U-PRO/EVO? Or the Fly Eagle knockoff? Why are you using mode 4?

Default RE: EV5U Valve Programming Help!

Todd, it's the EV5U-PRO. I tried it in mode 3 - I have the extra valve - but instead of leaving one set of doors open, all of the doors close. I absolutely cannot for the life of me figure out how to tell the valves what to do. How do I teach one of the doors to stay open? Todd, the sequence that you describe as Mode 3 on the Dreamworks website is EXACTLY what I need. But the valve doesn't do it on it's own and I can't understand the programming instructions.

Here's what happens: Doors open, gear down, doors close. It's like it's perpetually stuck in Mode 2. I've tried resetting it. I've tried switching the valves.

Frustrating to say the least. Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance -

C

Mode 3 is what you need. Been a while since I did a mode 3 but if I remember correctly; Gear and doors you wish open gear down connected to the EV5U, doors you want closed connected to the additional valve plugged into "door 2" port on right side of valve. Then simply program timing for G0, D1, D2.
When you start the programming, it is very important to make sure you have the valve in the correct sequence to start with. Brakes only function gear down so test them before beginning the program. If the brake valve does not function your switch (or channel) is in the wrong direction; reverse the switch (or channel in radio if switch is in preferred direction) before you begin the programming! Many make the mistake of starting the programming sequence with the valve in the wrong position.

Thanks for the help Todd -I guess I didn't know about having the switch in the right direction on my radio before starting the programming. That being said and at the risk of being dense, isn't the M3 programming pretty much plug & play? What do I need to program? Can I just leave the factory defaults on the timing?

Can't thank you enough!

Maybe.... Maybe not.... Depends on many factors. Best thing to do is to disconnect the door cylinder from the door an cycle. If the delays pre-programmed are working as desired than no additional programming needed for the sequence. Some adjustment in timing is likely however.

Hey Todd or anyone that can help. I have the non digital ev5u air power valve.

1. Valve sometimes has a mind of its own. Turn on plane and it sometimes cycles the gear. I have to lift plane up and turn on switches to keep from damaging doors/ gear. Gremlins?

2. I went to try and reprogram the card but for some reason it skips the valve 1-5 feature no matter what I do.

3. It also leaks air only when the power is on. Shut the plane off and holds air no problem. I did try crimping air lines off 1 by 1 to see if it was a cylinder issue...still leaking from inside the valve.

Thanks
James

Hi James, our of interest are you using a PowerBox on DSMX? The V14 software didn't have any center points for switch on. I often had this until updating the software to V16.

Not sure of software version. Is the software updatable? If so how is this accomplished? Thanks

No powerbox. I am using the new jr xg11 receiver though. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Try binding the receiver to the transmitter with the gear switch in the down position.

Don't buy this valve!!! I had it in a jet and it went bad...not holding air, also retracting gear when powered up (yes, tried rebinding several times). I emailed the factory and they said send it in for repair. That's been 3 months ago...not a single response from them as to the status of the valve. I've sent numerous emails. Now I have to file a claim with USPS and try and get my money back somehow. Now instead of having one component go bad (gear, brakes, retracts) I have to make provision to replace all 3.

I will never, ever buy any of their products!!! They want to make the $ but sure don't want to offer any customer service.

First, we really need to define if this is an original Airpower brand or the cheap FEJ knock-off? See here to diagnose your leaking issues: http://dwjets.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=12

The pro version has a nice LCD display for easy programming and pressure monitoring. These things are awesome, cant live wihtout them.

If yours leak, check all conections on your system. They typically dont, and in most cases it can be isolated by pinching the airlines that are pressurized until the leak stops. Then you know the problem is within that run.

I checked for leaks. It held pressure when the valve was off. As soon as you turned it on the air would leak.

You still fail to mention brand..... Follow the link above to diagnose the leaks, most likely has nothing to do with the valve!

I had a few emails back and forth in the beginning attempting to trouble shoot the valve with no success. The big issue here is that I sent the valve back at their request and have not had a single response from them. It's called "Customer Service". In any business without customer service you fail to do your complete job.

Ok. I have mine on the table with a single retract hooked up to valve 1 and 2. One door Cyl hooked up to valve 3and 4. Hand pumping both gear and brake ports in. Know it's no vol but just messing with it. I have the brake air " out" plugged. Works great in the Man mode. Just gotta fig out how to get it working from the TX and RX. Ha. Having fun with it anyway. I think I'm gonna have to have some more Vol like a tank in- line to work with the gear switch.
