With a RC Jet Turbine get together at Wagin soon I intend to take my German INFERNO down & show everyone.I will take a er90 in a test stand ready to fly .Show how easy to start,Throttle & how noisey this is.I may be told DONT start it because of noise but its a start.I love all jets but Pulse Jets are not so easy to understand at times.Thats why I love them.Everyone said a afterburner could not work but it did.NOS gave 20lbs thrust.WOW,Just had to try it.The er90 is 1100G & gives about13 lbs static thrust.Uses 350mls/minute static.Best with a fuel blend like 40% petrol 60% Kerosine and 50/1 two stroke oil.Cost about 700 Euro.A Pulse Jet Turbine ran in 1910 putting out over one HP for one hour so in my mind that is the first shaft Jet ever.Pulse Jets use lots of fuel because they dont compress the air like a turbine but man, they shore burn clean.Evan pumping diesel fuel into my er90 tail pipe it ran cleaner than a piston engine.
As with all low compression engines spark plugs, amps,Volts fuel injectors and so one need to be the best you can use.My Buzz Box runs 2,2 amps at 30,000Volts.Spark plug is a small nitro plug & glows brite red so evan Kero fires up strait away. Not bad considdering the fuel is sprayed low psi & into the reeds for start up.Should be using this for Turbine Jets on Kero.Spark plug should be up at the front next to reeds also.Control Line Pulse Jet Clubs in USA are the Pioneers of perfecting small CL Pulse Jets but RC is not alowed there.Europe Builds the Best RC Pulse Jets and are still improving.I want to find a RC boat like a 1/6 scale Budweiser next to try one on.So easy to do to.Bob Maddox Builds & sells Pulse Jets over 500lbs thrust & sells the to anyone.Everyone I have run my er90 in front of Says WOW,Amazing. When is it going to fly.I want to be there. To me a Pulse Jet is like a V8 car as compared to a Fast shopping car(jet Turbine) .

I am interested in finding a top Boat to put a ER90 Pulse Jet on also. The two Pulse Jets this boat has are a bit low on thrust but Bullet proof from Water I suppose.
My INFERNO is getting 5mm wire skids and not wheels put on it now.Just need to glue them on then any surface it can take off and land from.I hope to use a Salt Lake soon for its first Flight.Afterburner goes on to.

Can you post some pics of your setup? The orange Pulse is a new product @ HK ? I saw the red one that looks like it is hard to start, can you share some insight on starting it? Thanks.

I Chris did not have anything to do with this Pulse jet (fun Jet) set up.But I can give some advice perhaps. The stock Flowjector is the hart of the problems with Dyna Type jets.Bailey Pulse Jets solved all this but unfortunately he is no longer around. You can do a Cheep fix on a stock Hobbyking Pulse Jet easy. These two photos are a way to do it.These set ups are for Methanol use as the basic fuel. Most add 20% Nitro to this to help starting and a dash more power.Methanol Fuel goes Very well with Dyna type Pulse Jets but it uses over Double the fuel content. It Protects the reeds by cooling and lubricating.

The Bungee is more for getting the Nose up into the air .With a Thrust line above the wing all 13lbs thrust pushes the nose down until air speed is strong enough to push the back down with up elivator. To set wheels up on a Delta wing means lowering the tail or balancing the wieght over the rear wheels.Lowering the back has problems on landing.Zanin's Sagittario uses wheels only but its thrust line is spot on.The Italian Delfino uses a Canard to solve these problems. Some use a catupult for Delta wings.I will just use a Bungee for now myself & just wire skids for landing.I bought a Ryobi Leaf blower for starting to now & found it Perfect fo the job.

This thread has grown quiet - kind of ironic considering how loud the subject matter is..
FYI I have ordered one of Hubert's Virus models and it is shipping right after this year's Days of Speed and Thunder event, which is running right now. I have a 90mm pulsejet already, plus fuel pump, air trap and all that stuff to go with it. The model comes with two 1l integral fuel cells (not IV bladders) and two elevon servos, at least this version does. He also manufacturs them with a turbine cavity - pop in a 26-28lb thrust turbine and say hello to 300.
Launching is no more than ground launch with a large bungee. This seems like the least of the problems to conquer. These speed deltas - Scout, Virus etc, are intended for use without landing gear on long grass strips.

I have a Doylejet - Dynajet specs - plus a Maxjet 15, not sure if I have the only one they sold or not. I believe it is 90mm, I should go measure it. This is the static test they had posted on the website at the time:
http://www.truerc.net/jetengine.avi
And I am pretty sure it was these guys that made it. Lost all the docs a while ago. It was on the treuRC website for a while but not now, although the video link above seems to still be active.

Doyle Ripped me off years ago.Doyle was a Dyna Jet copy basically. The one in the Vidio is like a er90 pipe set up.
This is everything I need to go fly my RC INFERNO Pulse Jet.

Is that a rechargeable blower? Nice and compact.
Got my Doylejet somewhere around '86 or so. Very heavy head, with longitudinal fins versus radial. Nice looking engine, yes uses Dynajet reed and same performance.
I figure I'll have to get reeds cut locally for the 90mm engine, that's fine, I know a place as they say. Think I have three total.

Bunnings Home hardware shop here in Perth WA sell these blowers.I started a Hobbyking pulse jet with it to once.It started easy but I had to force the fuel in by manual pressure at the air vent.

As for anyone ever wanting to start a Pulse Jet in the air I myself would use this set up in the photo. This will fire up a 100% kerosene fueled er90 so its the most powerful Buzz box you could ever want.It could fit in the INFERNO but I dont think I need it really.I dont have much space as it is & I dont want electronic interference drama. This small coil is off a V8 car & is good for 50.000V & over 3 amps. They are prone to failing if you use copper leads on them & if the spark has no where to go.The electronic circuit you have to make your self but I have the planes if you can build this type of thing OK .Dont cost much to build & run car coils at 283HZ per sec. This makes the Spark Plug I use glow red in the center guarantying the er90 fire up instantly.I use old car can coils (with no ballast resistor)in buzz boxes now as they never fail. Most use Ford T coils for starting Dyna jets.

Blowers are great for pumped fuel systems but yeah, with a flowjector it's not the kind of air flow you need. I have an HV module from neon running lights that is fairly compact and provides a healthy spark. But at this point I am not planning in air restarts.. maybe for the Reichenberg I'd like to eventually build.
