Default Jetcat P160SX Question

I have an E Mail to Jetcat but thought someone could help me out sooner. I had a need to verify my kero flow at pump start voltage. To my surprise, the kero was flowing from the main kero line and not the smaller gray line. Both lines were disconnected from the turbine during my checks. The airframe, (Skymaster Viperjet) had been plumbed for a P160SE previously so two solenoids were installed. It appears to me now that the SX only requires one solenoid and not two. Is this correct? If it is, why is there two festos on the turbine???

Thx in advance for your comments ...

Bill

No, same set up. Two valves. One supply from the pump, Y or T to two valves. Are you sure the connections to the ECU are correct? Check brown wire and correct pins

You can do a valve test too

Dave,

My other Jetcat turbines all give me a starting gas valve test option as well as kero valve test. I only have a kero valve test via test mode in GSU. I'll double check my connections but shouldn't I still have the starting valve test option in GSU ??? I currently have it set up as you described. Split at disc of pump going to two solenoids. What I hadn't noticed until now is no fuel flow thru small gray line.

Thx Dave,

bill

It sounds as if you don't have the solenoid plugged into the correct port on the ECU. I have done this by mistake before myself. It is very easy to do on the Jet Cat ECU's. With it being a SX version you should see a burner test function on the GSU. That is how you test the Kero plug solenoid.

A picture is worth a thousand words!!!!!!!!!

I do see the Burner Test Function. I belive it is Ver 6.1 but will need to verify. I will verify that both solenoids are plugged in properly. I'll update status this evening.

thx Guys,

Bill

Can't tell for sure by the post if you are installing a new SX or putting external kero start on an SE.

You might need to make sure it is set to kerosene start and not propane start on the GSU. If the program says P-160SX on the GSU when it boots it should default to kerosene start but it doesn't hurt to check. There are quite a few P-160 programs loaded in the ECU. Make sure you are on the SX version if you have an SX engine. I don't remember for sure but the SE software probably just allows you to change from propane start to kerosene start if it is an SE engine that you are upgrading to a kero start engine.

Anyway, with fuel only coming out of one valve, the engine might be set on propane start not kero start.

Can you post pictures of either end of the ECU?

Ah, re reading. Are you just trying a fuel purge? main line only, its start valve test to allow it to pump to the start line. 3mm Grey

Dave, Gary, Greg and Jetcat,

Thank You all very much for your assistance. My turbine is a P160SX, V 6.0. I have checked the connections at the ECU and they are all fine. I have checked the GSU upon powering up and it states the same and that it is Kerosene Start. I knew that the plumbing was correct splitting the kero at the pump discharge to both solenoids. Having checked and rechecked I came to the conclusion that It must be "Operator Error". I had been activating the "Pump Start Up Voltage" run button, expecting to see flow at the start up line. I needed to be activating the "Burner Test Valve" to verify flow at the start up line. Everything looks good and I am certain that it will start up flawlessly. I feel a bit stupid but hopefully this will help out someone else in the future. As always, thx to Jetcat for their outstanding customer support !!!

Slightly embarrassed,

Bill

Bill, that is exactly what i said at the end of my post is that the burner valve test function is for testing the Kero plug solenoid.
