Hi, I was reading that evojet turbines are affected when the ambient temperature is hot and humid, why does the evojet turbine have startup problems with heat and humidity? This doesn't happen with other turbines. Can this be remedied with a slightly shorter nozzle to lower the exhaust temperatures more? Thank you

I’ve operated EvoJets out of SWFL since 2009. I currently own 2-180, and a 220. The 160 from 2009 flew for ten years going through a couple ECU, fuel pumps and starters. My oldest 180 flys every week and I bought in 2010. It’s also on another ECU, fuel pump, bearings, etc. I bought the other 180 and 220 two years ago. The 180 flys a several times a month. The 220, I sold the airframe and haven’t finished the next airframe that it is going into yet. My point is that I love Arno’s engines. And they start in 94 degree heat and high summer humidity every start. You may need the pump adjustment. Also, any engine that last ran in cooler temperatures, and the next start in higher temperatures differences has to recalibrate itself. Thus why it goes above 60k rpm’s every start.
If you are having issues, take a video of the start. Then email it to Arno. He may see the problem right off of the bat. Or ask for different GSU pictures. You can also call Robbie at BVM to ask for help. You may have a weak fuel pump, weak starter, or just a setting.
