Here is my motivation This is two short vids my son did when we went flying last weekend. We had a very stiff 90 degree cross wind and the F15 did pretty well until the last flight when the bearings came apart.

On the start up video you can see the pilots moving and the inlets lower during start up like the full scale.

Not sure where to get replacement bearings from. Ibremoved the other wheel and all the balls just fell out so that one was also about to let loose.

Hi Gun,

Sorry to hear about the bearings, good luck getting the plane airborne again.

These should fix the problems but are still not going to be as strong as the original ones that they used to make. They refuse to make them the old way so these are what we get now. I have a set installed and will fly them Sunday. With the plywood gear mod they should work great and take care of this part. Also going to test my 2 air valve system to see if it gets the gear up. If it does not work I will be probably switching to hydraulic.

My buddy Joe that has this plane is having a friend thats a machinist trying to make a 1 part piece. Looking forward to seeing what he comes up with. In the mean time these should work now.

When you get your plane take pics and show me what ones you have and I can tell you if they will hold up. What engine are you gong to use?
Gun,

I received the model over the weekend, below are pictures of the sockets we discussed, let me know if they're the ones you feel are improved. I also included a pic of the model I took right after unpacking it.

Again, sorry to hear about the bearings. You're performing a great service to us fellow owners by sharing your experience, thank you for doing it! I hope you get it sorted out.

Kris,

How did you get the bearings out? I've disassembled my wheels to see about changing them and even with an arbor press, they don't seem to want to budge. Now maybe I am being too timid and they are just a press fit .. but honestly mine look more like bronze bushings than bearings .. at least from the outside! Plus mine look like a 12mm OD not 10 mm .. so perhaps there has been a change in the wheels over time?

Must have been a change then Dave. Mine fell out in pieces. I only have one that I could even measure to get the new ones. They are toast.

SC you have the good ones! They will work fine. Just make sure you install the ply wood brace that I copied from Mick. I was doing landings in a 90 degree cross wind over the weekend and the gear did fine. Before it would have been knocked out for sure.

Kris,

When you have a moment, would you mind sharing with me the overall weight, thrust and burn-rate for the K-300 which is scheduled to debut soon? I've specifically bought only Jetcat turbines and was not able to pull this off the KT site. I'd like to run some numbers on my end.

Thanks in advance.

ok, I'm mostly curious on the weight, if you run into the weight estimates, LMK. Thanks again.

Hello SC
Repairs are complete and she is ready to go for Florida jets. Going to fly her the weekend before FLjets so little less then 2 weeks from now. The bearings from Boca fit perfect and the plane rolls great now. Before I thought the brakes dragged a little but now that I have new bearings its clear that the old bearings where causing the drag. Huge difference in how well the plane rolls now.

Also talked to my friend Joe with this plane and he has only done taxi tests so far and he removed his bearings and one of them fell apart in his hand. So he was going to have the same problems I had. If you have this plane please replace those bearings.

Good part is Catherine from FB wanted a link to wear they could by better bearings. Not sure if they are going to get them but they are aware of the problem and trying to correct it. Also she wanted pics of my gear MOD so they can look at adding that to the plane also. Again not sure if they will but they at least listen. I have been extremely happy with Catherine from FB with this whole process. She has supported me every step of the way.

Hey gun, send lots of pictures in order and give very simple descriptions. When I was teaching flights school I had a few Asian students and learned this, it's not an insult but their types language translation is very hard for them just due to the nature of the language. I would spend an hour trying to explain something that would only take a few minutes with a simple picture. I hope the take your advice I have kept this kit on the brain as a replacement for my 1/7 f-15 I sold before flying.

It was a real treat to meet Kris at FLJ and see his F-15E in action .. I saw it fly three or four times on Saturday and it really looks great in the air.

I hope some of the photographers got some good action shots of it, including the nice high-alpha landings!

Congrats on a fine plane flown very well!

Some video from Bill Hunt got of the F15. You can see one bomb fall off just after takeoff. The other I dropped and the thing flew a long ways lol. Needs more nose weight.

Kris ... having followed your struggles but dedication to fix the problems on this thread, it was awesome to see the success you had at FL Jets despite the heavy cross winds the entire event.

The F-15 looked and flew great!

Great job!
