Exclamation Cortex Gyro Firmware Update Help!!

Hey everyone,

I got a used Cortex and wanted to update the firmware before I used it. I have not installed in the fuse just yet or to my receiver. I downloaded the current PC software V1.2. I connected the Cortex via the USB and within the software it showed a green status bar " USB Detected" Then I plugged my battery to the first port on the Cortex after the USB plug and then got the Green status bar " Connected" in the software. The current firmware on the gyro is 15. I am trying to install 16. When trying to update it ask to disconnect Motor and turn off TX (Unplug my Battery) and reconnect. at this point it goes into stalling and then displays update failed. I am not sure why its doing that or If I am doing it correctly. The manual doesn't state anything about how to install the updates are the process of doing it. So the steps I took was what I thought was logical which was connecting via USB to PC for file install and power supplied via the battery to turn it on. Here is a picture of what it showed.

I can't remember off hand about the update process but are you leaving the battery plugged in to the Cortex while the update is being performed?

When start the update process it tells me to turn off the TX and disconnect the motor and then turn it back on. Since I don't have it connected to a RX or in the fuse. I am assuming that I would just disconnect the battery and connect it again. At that point it starts to download and it get all the way through as if it downloaded and installed and then it gives me the " update didn't work"

If you needed to connect the battery to get the Cortex to "connect" and communicate with the PC via the USB cable, I would assume you need to leave the battery connected during the entire upgrade process.

I assume the bit about turning the Tx off and disconnecting the motor is for when it's connected to a receiver and installed in an electirci plane to prevent the motor from accidentally turning on.

Hey wayne,

That's what I was thinking too but it will not staet the update until I disconnect the baterry and plug it back in. I'm not sure why it's doing it. I'm going to make a video so you guys can see what's going on. Give me just a few min. and I'll get it posted.

Here is a video of what I am experiencing while trying to update the firmware. I talk to Danny as well and it most likely the USB cable.
