I’ll be adding a cortex pro in my carf rebel hot, I’m not able to isolate the current assist gyro from acoustic interference. The best place to mount the cortex pro is on the slightly sloping part of the mid fuse, where the jeti assist is mounted now.

Will it be a problem to mount the cortex pro on the 10 degrees sloping part of the fuse, when I only use the gyro in damping mode? I know the manual states to mount it flat, but do anyone have real world experience mounting the cortex at a slight angle?

It needs to be flat or you can get axis interactions

It needs to be aligned with the flight access of the aircraft as close as possible. One or even 2° would not be a serious issue but 10° is way too much. I recently completed a rebel hot for a customer and designed a special amount that incorporates a 10° correction.

I’ll sketch up something similar for the cortex. Is the hush box usually necessary in the rebel hot, or is it just an extra precaution?

I built two Rebel Hots. The first one had no issues with the Cortex Pro and Xicoy engine. The second uses a Kingtech and has noise issues.

The hot is the only model I’ve not been able to solve the noise issues with the assist in. I’ve had to use some insulation in the other models, but it has always solved the problem. In the hot I’ve changed turbine from jetsmunts VT-80 to xicoy X-60, insulated with dynamat extreme and closed cell foam, firmed up the mounting area with ply, moved the location of the RX and more.

I’m giving up on the assist in this model, and moving on to cortex pro. Not being able to solve this issue with the assist is the reason I’m wondering if the hush box is necessary in the hot, but I see others using the cortex without, so I’ll ll try that first.

Hi - I use 30-50-60 for cruise, takeoff and landing. I have a switch for +-5% to change the gain inflight.

The jet is flying slow i use 70 as a starting point with flaps full

Default Servo Freq?

Question- Been running MKS servos that are 333hz for years and setting the CP to that. Was recently told by a very well known (highly experienced) pilot that it’s better to set it to 200hz. Has anyone heard this, or able to explain why it’s beneficial or not? TIA!

Some servos run better/smoother at different refresh frequencies. I typically run at 166 Hz if there is no detectable difference at the higher setting since there is no point in driving the servo harder than you need to.

Thanks Danny...Is there a way to detect this on the bench, or is it a "feel" during flight?
